Lord Buckethead later became the much better Count Binface - after a copyright dispute due to a movie from 1984 having a character with the name Lord Buckethead.

Oh, the story is so much better than just a simple copyright dispute. The owner of the UK distribution rights to the film actually took the rights to the character to stand in election as the long head of the Gremloid Party against Maggie Thatcher (standing on a manifesto that pledged to destroy Birmingham and replace it with a spaceport to further the agenda of conquering the galaxy). He donned the bucket once again against John Major a few years later. And then just sort of went silent. It was only after another guy took the mantle and started getting more popular than the original that the first Buckethead suddenly demanded all accounts be turned over to him. He has resumed his role as Lord Buckethead, standing for the Monster Raving Loony Party - challenging not just Boris Johnson, but also his scorned would-be successor who assumed the new identity of Count Binface.

No, Lord Buckethead is just properly not the hero they needed, but the hero they deserved like in Batman. What they *needed* was someone who could either hammer out a good deal, or someone with the guts to cancel the entire thing, but since they voted in the kind of fools who wanted to make people vote on something they claimed to be for, secretly weren't, and assumed would fail, they deserve a hero that is exactly as stupid. (No offence to the Lord Buckethead of course, it's just the optics of voting for someone with a bucket for a head that is the silliness they brought on themselves.)

Fun fact, the second: He is actually a different Lord Buckethead - the Lord Buckethead of 2017 was the second person to take up the name. The original ran against Margaret Thatcher in the 80s. Then threatened his successor with legal action despite not having used the character politically for a couple of decades at that point. Our favourite Lord Buckethead is now Count Binface.

UK never had open borders in the first place. Open borders are part of the schengen area, not the EU. UK was never part of the schengen area, just as Ireland, Croatia, Romania and Bulgaria. When I go the UK I always get checked on ID at the border, only now they would have to check my passport instead since ID identification is good enough within EU countries.
