Thanks for the more "pretty" builds, it really does make me smile. The solar build is exactly what I meant and it looks great!

I'm glad you approve 😀 I've got an idea (or been given an idea) for an improved build to use myself, so perhaps that will appear in Talorbit at some point.

17:47 Question one; why are barrels of acid such a bad idea? You fill them planetside, pass them through, unbarrel them astroid side, pass the barrels back and refill them. That would take a bit at first to fill a large tank, yes, but it would take just one slot when the acid is satisfied, or two when passing the barrels back (long handed fast inserters can be used to take barrels out quickly) Question two; why not fill the chest with one stack of iron and sulfur? Once a slot is taken, nothing else can be in that slot, might as well just fill that slot with a stack. Nothing fancy is needed then with signal transmitters; just check the content of the chest and keep filling up stacks when needed.

For barrels, I feel that due to the small size of barrels, the throughput might be rather limited, however that's a gut feel rather than something I've actually calculated. It also means sacrificing two i/o slots on the chest since you'd need one to feed the full barrels in and one to get the empties back out again. That could be done with long inserters running against each other though, so it would still only take up 1/8 of the capacity. Hmmm. Thinking about it, you're giving me some ideas, maybe I will use barrels! 😲

There's also options for how to load at the asteroid field end. We could make deep space loaders and so load at the rate of 7 of those or we could use strongboxes/warehouses/whatever and superior long inserters and load at the rate of 15 of those
@LaurencePlays4 ай бұрын
Mmmm, I'd been assuming deep space loaders to get max throughput, however your point about surrounding it with strongboxes and direct inserting is a good one. I'm not sure which is faster, 7 purple/deep space loaders or 15 superior inserters. The latter would be cheaper!

Yeah, and Tristan reminded me about meteor defence ammo too... There's quite a few things that need to be shipped out! It's a shame, I was starting to warm to the simple barrel system. I think we're going to need a signal transmitter after all.

I'm looking forward to the Factorio DLC! I'll definitely watch any tutorials you make about it and the new mechanics.

Me too! I'm hoping we'll finish K2SE before 2.0 comes out because I'll be wanting to concentrate on that as soon as it's available. I'll be streaming it as soon as I can, and yes, some videos about the new features as I discover them sounds like an excellent idea.

Great! Another game to fuel my ADHD.

I have a problem to fix: I normally send full rockets of an item to the 2nd asteroid belt in the system, my main base ( i use that asteroid belt because it's full of water ice and other minerals (Nauvis orbit has no ice and the 1st asteroid belt had way less water and scant other minerals.) I have noticed that my main item usage is petrol, then sulfur in the asteroid belt. I tried pushing both thru one arcolink, but the petrol backs up in the huge chest in the asteroid belt, so the sulfur wont flow bc the arcolink is fuel of petrol barrels. Also i rarely use circuits in my build. Now i have to figure out a transmitter+receiver+circuit build to maybe stop the petrol at 90% chest capacity at the asteroid base so as to allow a flow of sulfur. I just hope the sulfur wont then back up too... Or I could just land arcolinks from different orbits and then transfer them in sacrificial small ships to Nauvis. I would then have, say 10 arcolinks (with different planet numbers), then link them back to my main base in the asteroid belt (will take a cpl hours and is expensive, but its easier if you aren't proficient in circuits.) I am currently on my 2nd playthru and am now on deep space science 4. Also, my laptop only has only a 32 mb video card, so playing the game is rough and save times take minutes and the game crashes every other day and sometime the laptop overheats and shuts down ( i need to get a 2+GB video card desperately, lol) Any suggestions for that arcolink issue would be helpful.

You're not going to like this, but my suggestion is to learn about using circuits! They're enormously powerful. I've got a couple of tutorial videos that might help you though; kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zqu7eZ9tn9Z3fMU should get you started and then kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXiZnoiuat6WjNk and kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppWckJ2JopanfZY are more Space Exploration specific. Hope that helps!

Couldn’t you just travel to locations you want to place the arc storages, drop some spaceship flooring or the nicer space platform and the put the storage on top of it without making/disassembling a whole ship?
@frankyanish48334 ай бұрын
I don’t think so. From what he said, I think that it links to the location you placed it not the material you placed it on.
@LaurencePlays4 ай бұрын
Franky is correct - the arcolink's ID is set by the surface you place it on - and that's a Factorio surface, eg Norbit, Talos, Stardust, etc, not the flooring type. I can see how the word "surface" is ambiguous though! If I do a Tutorio for arcolinks, I'll make sure I'm clearer 🙂
@LaurencePlays4 ай бұрын
@@frankyanish4833 Spot on, although I can see how "surface" is a vague word, and could be misinterpreted.
