Look nice. I wanna get one for my fj cruiser...how much is the price?

If I have a 5th gen 4Runner, would XXL size too big for my RTT on my Gobi rack? I would appreciate your advice.

These hard shell rtt's certainly are awesome compared to opening/closing a traditional soft shell and the ventilation capabilities are another bonus. IMO one of the deciding factors between the two is the option for using an annex. I often support between one to four people, so having my optional annex that I can zip onto my rtt enables me to easily support two additional sleeping locations which is really nice for my needs. If I knew I only wanted to have sleeping quarters for one or two people then a hard shell would win hands down for all the reasons you cover in the video. I have a short bed Tacoma so unless I load a hard shell rtt over the cab (fitment would still be awkward) or add a camper shell this type of rtt will not fit on my bed rack which is another consideration for some to think about.

Great feedback and thanks for sharing. We owned an annex for our previous tent but never used it, only because 2+1 (kiddo) never warranted deploying it. Every situation is different but JB has an XXL version that's huge too. Happy trails Pete and thanks for watching!!

I've had my eye on an Explorer for a while but sadly a RTT doesn't suit a state park camper like myself. I bring my Portaboat and CLAM screen shelter on my truck's bed rails and go between the lake and campsite at least one time each day. IMO, these are perfect when you aren't moving your vehicle from your campsite, or at least don't need to carry other unwieldy roof top gear.

My research into rtt has led me to James Baroud as the top of the line of what is out there. Of course being the top of the line the price reflects it but buy once cry once and know you have made an great investment into a solid product.

Exactly. This looks well built. When you go cheap often times you will be crying later. And you don't want to be crying in the rain or a blizzard.

Roger. I can appreciate equipment walkarounds. The more their are, the more you can see these products in action. Cheers!

What are the red tabs for in the interior of the tent? I’ve had mine now for snout 6 months and I have yet to figure out what those are for.

Steve Aaen Hi Steve! Those are marking points for how far you should zip up the doors/windows before you close up the tent so it all collapses without needing to be tucked in.
