Hey Plasma, nice video! At CES Samsung said there was no difference between the S95C and S90C, but then, when they released it in Germany (where I am from) they said the S90C will have less brightness due to the software. But with what you said, I think the 77 S90C might still be an option over the 77 S95C (and I don’t like the one connect box anyway). I am also pretty sure that the price of the S90C will plummet in the next months like the S95B and Samsung will have sales where they are basically throwing the Tv at you😂. That might be the most reasonable 77 inch qd oled to get this year.

Hisense are just cheap for the masses. TCL does have good stuff. And yes, I saw the HDTV test interview with TCL where he asked about 5000 nits TV they have in Asia. I think it's fantastic, but not for gaming because the dimming zones algorithms add latency.

Just by seeing this video its easy to conclude that we can make the s95b close to s95c just by boosting the gamma. See the woman scene at 7:41 the blacks are better on the s90c since the s95c is boosted.

It's going to increase the risk of burning and shorten the lifespan of the TVs for sure but. The S95C can do 2000 nits with the service menu tweak. That's the brightness they where advertising for h This qdoled generation and its just being software restricted, probably to sell it next year

Where did you see you can unlock the S90C/S95B brightness in the service menu? I have not seen information on that anywhere. And I recently upgraded from an LG C2 to the LG G3 but then I returned the G3 for an S95c and I am very happy with it.

Is there any guess as to how bright a room has to be to notice raised blacks? These show rooms are pretty bright, but I suppose you’d probably see something similar in a room with an overhead light. My worry would be that the WOLED would be too dim in a moderately lit room anyway. Would I care if the blacks are black if I can’t see what’s going on on the screen anyway? Hard to decide.

The blacks will be raised unless the room is completely dark. A premium display cannot be fully enjoyed under lighting conditions, it's a waste basically. I'd recommend an LCD if you can't controll the lighting

I'd say the S90C 77" is probably the best value out there right now. It's a guaranteed Gen 2 QDOLED, but cheaper than S95C and yet basically the same. I doubt brightness difference would be all that much and it would mean Samsung literally held back the S90C 77". I would get one, but since I use my TV as PC monitor, it's not burn in I worry about, warranty can take care of that, It's the ASBL on the desktop with the constant dimming. It's annoying AF. But the image quality in movies/shows and games is amazing. So at times I wonder if I wouldn't rather suffer the ASBL. But I don't know. If A95L and mild brightness settings without peak brightness on PC Desktop, that maybe the ASBL won't be as aggressive. That and if game mode is not dimmed. Then A95L would be god-mode of TVs.

On the Samsung, you can turn off ASNL completely on the service menu. You can't do that on Sony.

I can only fit a 65 inch in my room which means If I buy S90C I’ll have the same panel as S95B. So this won’t benefit me. However the S95B is still a fantastic panel. The S95C is NOT $2,000 better than S95B which is the premium they are charging for the S95C.

Be careful Samsung Display has made an important change in the blue emitters in the S95C by adding heavy hydrogen for longevity vs the S90C and S90B.

No, the black level raised is due to the lack of a polarizer, which makes the ambient light raise the blacks. The solution is to turn off the lights and get black out curtains

Colors looked the same to me, but I know that the S90C is using first-generation qdoled panels for now. Only the 77" S90C is guaranteed the latest qdoled panel, which can be unleashed in the service menu to give you 2000 nits. If I was forced to decide between them (having an LG C1 OLED already) I would get the S95C for 55 and 65 and the S90C for 77. Otherwise I would get the C1 because it has 3x better motion clarity than all these TVs using 120 OLED Motion Pro high which was removed from the C2/G2/C3/G3

Any idea how much blur the S90C's MotionPlus(Motion Interpolation) game mode setting reduces? I hear it artificially makes 60fps titles kind of closer to 120fps, and 30fps closer to 60, while including a bit of motion artificats. Still, that setting is far more appealing than MotionClear(BFI) since it only has 20.4ms of lag, where as the S90c's BFI is nearly 30ms making it unusable, at least for me.

Here I am and all I see is how well the QN90B is stacking up. But yeah, it's a store demo. The S95C and S90C looks way too over saturated in the video. Maybe on purpose by Samsung. The QN90B looks natural.

If the S90C has a 2nd generation QDOLED panel like the 77" which is guaranteed then you can actually get more brightness than the S95C by accessing the service menu at your own risk (I would definitely do it)

From what I've been able to gather, the S90C 77-inch has the same panel as the S95C plus full 48Gb HDMI 2.1 bandwidth vs 40 on the S95C due to the one connect box.

The other screen sizes might have the same S95B panel with new software. I'd only recommend a QDOLED if you can control the room lighting because QDOLED has raised blacks under lighting conditions

Other than that and some Samsung Firmware Updates messing things up the S90C is a fantastic TV with an amazing feature for console gaming, low latency motion interpolation that improves the motion clarity significantly for 30 and 60fps games

For motion interpolation, absolutely. The C1 motion interpolation is almost unusable for gaming

Bummer. According to RTNGS, using both Black frame insertion & Motion Interpolation for the S95C's game mode bumps input lag up to 30ms....That's about 10ms higher than the C1's BFI. Very disappointing. I could of dealt with 20ms depending on the game, but 30? Nah. Both features are practically useless to me now. I think I'll be holding on to my C1 just a little longer. :P

That's still very good., on the PC, just by reducing the GPU utilization to achieve the locked FPS the latency is greatly reduced.

The flicker in the S90C is frankly very intrusive for me. In Sony TVs is cool because you have the option to make the backlight flicker at 96Hz and it's nowhere near as noticeable and it helps quite a bit.

I'm assuming Sony's QD-OLED BFI still delivers the same 8ms persistence with 600p motion clarity compared to the competition. I've given up on the C1's BFI/Motion Pro High for gaming, i just roll with the base motion as semi-lousy as it is. If only i could magically run every game at 120fps and gain all 4 benifits with Switch & PS5

So I'm limited in terms of customization and options. 30ms of latency, as is, is almost as bad as my S60 plasma. It's game breaking for platformers imo, but it might be doable for other genres.

I would recommend a C1/G1 for 120 OLED Motion Pro for the best motion clarity, 2.6x better than 120fps. Otherwise S90C 77, or S95C 65 55, or G2 for value

I don't like Sony because you can't turn off static and logo dimming on the service menu. The LG G3 tried to hide that deeper into the service menu, but with the Colorcontrol app on a PC it's already possible (I have no confirmation of that yet). The Samsung QDOLED is only recommended for a completely dark room. Otherwise, the blacks are raised, and the same happens with the G3 to a lesser extent.

My decision for movies would be heavily based on who has the best motion interpolation. I don't know the answer to that because I haven't tested it yet. 24fps looks horrendously bad in huge TVs with great GtG, and interpolation is necessary to increase the fps.
