Mec, on se connaît depuis qu'on a 12 ans, on était tous les deux des énormes fans de Sonic Adventure 1 et 2 tout en étant frustré des limites de ces jeux imposées par les développeurs... On a fantasmé ensemble depuis tellement longtemps à toutes ces choses que les jeux ne permettent pas... Et t'as transcendé tout ça... T'es allé tellement plus loin que tout ce qu'on aurait pu rêver d'avoir... Je suis fier de toi et de tout ce que tu accomplis par passion mon pote et je me sens privilégié d'avoir assisté au développement de certains de tes plus gros mods, d'avoir pu te conseiller à mon petit niveau en te donnant des idées et d'avoir pu en tester en avant première... This is a VERY BIG STEP in the modding community of this game Only thing that i would kinda like is to be able to change the skin selecter box size, maybe covering almsot the full screen for example, something like that

This mod is a literal dream I had! It would be even better if multiple players could choose the same character, but different skins... And imagine how that would go down if this were implemented into SA1 as well! Have SADX sonic and SADC sonic race each other to find out who is truly the ugliest :P

Technically yeah, it would need some hacks here and there as levels weren't made to have their textures unloaded and reloaded on the fly, at least not like that.

Wow that's pretty cool! Definitely installing it day 1! Also where were the code snippets from? I lack modding knowledge and I wonder how you're able to even able to write or look at the code for this.

Both SADX and SA2 code have been Reverse Engineered for years, we use tools like Ida and Ghidra to do that, and with a lot of research, we eventually figure out how some game features work. The Mod Loader was built (and is often updated) with the result of those research in mind. For example, it contains information like memory addresses (with guessed english name) from the game that modders can use. Additionally, the Mod Loader allows to inject custom code in the game, that's how we are able to edit the game code and do all those fancy stuff. I showed in this video the characters list that we have in the Mod Loader, while the rest was just my own code that I made in the Super Sonic mod.

Irrelevant but i got the blaster upgrade for gamma early. So i clipped through the water in the blaster upgrade room in the spring side in the water near it, which for some reason has a hitbox that pushes you out so through trial and error i get it to push me out of bounds and i tried it before but my latest attempt has a different result where it seemingly killed me but i still got the upgrade somehow. I don't know if this happened before.

being able to use this to swap between all of the custom outfits from the dreamcast and gamecube releases (holiday included) would be pretty awesome even by itself (since you wouldn't need audio swaps there) Would this let big and dark chao exist at the same time? (Maybe have dark chao walker as a skin of normal chao walker so voices aren't an issue? can it swap stats in real time?) Curious how it works with character selection plus, if we could use it to pick skins from the select menu that way (maybe when you press y, it loads the skin menu, with the green cursor indicating that you're using a skin, and if you hit y again it just defaults back to the normal skin?)

what program do you use to open .ini files like that? I tend to do it in notepad but that seems more comfortable

It's notepad++, and yeah, having colors is a lot better for ini, json, xml etc.

This is pretty cool, how far along is it, and how do the icons on the skin selection menu work? Do they utilize the character select plus icons?

@@birdquest8695 I would like to finish it this month but it might end up in august. Icon right now requires to create a pak file named « cover » with the texture from the character select map, usually mods have it included so it’s just about export it and import to the new pak file.
