I have the same setup on my 1981 Saab 900 GLs, front handbrake etc but solid everywhere, hardly any rust anywhere on both my 900's. The 1981 only has 39000 miles on it and the other 900 had been sitting in an old mechanic's workshop/garage for about 15 years, still needs work though. I would definitely find a donor part for the whole front assembly if you can.

@@ianturner3774 Hi I’ve seen that listing. Thankfully mine is in repairable condition. It does need some fabrication to the lower tow hooks and crossmember mounting points but after shot blasting I’m confident it can be saved. I’ll include it in my next video but I did do a short video that showed its condition (update 11). My main worry is sourcing a crossmember because as you can see it’s TOAST.. 😢😂 Thank you so much for your input, it’s very much appreciated… 👍

Hi Mark, I am going to start work on my 1990 900 Aero soon, do you know of a good reasonable, reliable source for parts? I need a driver's door electric window motor, an interior driver's door strap grab handle and a few other bits like an internal rear view mirror, interior lights etc. All the best and a Happy, Prosperous New Year to you & your family!

@@Semi0ffGrid7 Hi Happy New Year. I have fixed motors in the past with a strip down. The grease can go hard and the brass contacts can fail but some do clean up. Motors are available on EBay and some sellers are breaking cars on there or try UK Facebook Forums. I use Saabits.com for new parts where available. Apart from that it’s chasing round the old independent dealers that are still in business. Malbrad Saab in Huddersfield are helpful. Dave Palmer at Benfleet Saab in Essex is very knowledgeable too. It’s really a case of internet search and phoning around for earlier model parts. A copy of the old Saab Owners Club Magazine is handy for independent dealer lists. Hope this helps..
