These cars are an absolute bargain on the used market. I have had both a 2000 300m and a 2002 300m special as a daily driver and they have been bullet proof well in to the high 100k mile range. To keep these cars reliable change the transmission fluid every 50k with only ATF+4 and change the timing belt and water pump every 100k miles or 8 years. These cars will last if taken care of.
@DIYDanCars7 жыл бұрын
A local garage did my t-belt, water pump, idler rollers, and tensioner for less than $700. May a dealer will charge that much but not an independent garage.

You do not have to remove the top half of the engine, but you do need to remove the radiator.
@mikemoyercell7 жыл бұрын
DIY Dan correct no trans flushes tho, only changes and make sure to use ONLY the mopar branded atf+4 - I do this to my Cirrus lxi with the V6 and put a new trans filter on with a dorman trans pan that has a drain plug.
@mikemoyercell7 жыл бұрын
That way I can change the fluid without dropping the pan which in return keeps the filter clean.
@TvehX6 жыл бұрын
You don't have to take off the top half of the engine... You take off a crossmember, cooling fans, a radiator hose, and belts. Then it's just plates. Don't even need to remove the flywheel if you slip the belt partway in and rotate the crankshaft.

Just bought the identical car with 39600 miles on it. It needed tires and brakes. The best part is the cornering ability of the 300m Special. Its like your on rails. Still learning how to drive the machine. I have only put about 2000 miles on it so far. It is such a good looking car and very comfortable car to drive.

We have the same car from 2002, original owners. It now has 105k miles on it.. and it is a piece of junk. So many problems throughout the years and so many pending issues. Roofs rusted, steering is unusually loose, transmission is slipping, electrical problems, paint is poor, may I go on?
@SmokeyRam4 жыл бұрын
I got a 2002 300M special with nearly 350k on the clock and its been a fantastic car, only had one mechanical failure on the car and it was the passenger side rockers. However my trans is starting to show its age but its not totally out. My car drives fantastic, handles like a go kart and is easily one the best cars ive ever owned.

I LOVE this car. I'm actually looking to get one just like this but an 02 with 38k miles. And the fact that you're doing this video Saabkyle is amazing. Ironically enough, just like you, I had a 2000 Chrysler 300M in high school too, before I had a terrible accident and totaled it (not my fault btw!). Absolutely fantastic, thanks very much!

This car's a beauty. I actually also started with a 2000 300M in early college and still have it, I love that car. Comfort, power, performance...they're too often overlooked. The new Chrysler 300 series are okay, but I wish they'd go back to the sleeker models of the early 2000's

I have a 2001 Dodge Intrepid 3.5 V6 ES model with autostick and I had front end damage I could not find another Intrepid the same color with the e s model fog lights so I grabbed the front clip hood fenders bumper off of a Chrysler 300M and bolt it all on it was even the same color and then I did an interior swap front seats and rear seats everything bolted right in it was awesome I confuse a lot of people with that car but it looks great it look like an Intrepid from the back and a Chrysler 300M from the front! DAMN TREE FELL ON IT IN A STORM R.I.P

Neighborhood Car Reviews Crazy that they still went ahead to produce 300M, LHS, and Concorde along with the Intrepid. Pretty redundant, but great cars nonetheless.
@michaellovely66014 жыл бұрын
@@jimmbobb These were definitely great cars. I personally love the Chrysler Concorde and Chrysler LHS but my mom loves the Chrysler 300M because of the car's aggressive front end and those signature "Bat Wing" headlights as I call them. My stepdad would love the Chrysler 300M Special because of how it has a top speed of 150 MPH.
@jimmbobb4 жыл бұрын
@@michaellovely6601 I have a soft spot in my heart for Chrysler. Lee Iacocca was a great leader. I like their late 80s cars, their heyday was definitely the 90s. I give them huge credit for shifting from the dinosaur OHV to the much more efficient OHC technology before Ford, and lightyears ahead of GM. The Neon was a great value, largest/roomiest car in its class with the most power. The 93 LH cars were larger, arguably better looking than, and outperformed the Taurus and ugly Lumina. And of course their minivans, which I believe outsold GM & Fords comparable offerings combined. The sports offerings might not have been as successful (Stealth was a Japanese FWD) but I still personally like it better than the Camaro or Mustang of the time. Sorry for the super long comment. 😊
@sacr312 жыл бұрын
tad more power, better mags, nice two tone black/cream interior, 300M Special logos, tuned steering, 360 Watt Amp with 9 speakers, dual exhaust, lowered suspension height, and blackish/Gray "Ground effects" cladding, so basically plastic rocker panels = no rust down there and looks nice. I prefer the specials.

Great looking car, Kyle! Speaking of which, my neighbor has this exact car and model (same color too)! Even though it is left outside year round, it remains in excellent condition due to the fact that it is washed on a weekly basis. He also has a 1994 Taurus SHO (also in excellent condition) and a 2003 Ford Mustang Roush Stage 2 (excellent shape as well). As you can tell, my neighbor is quite the car collector...and the proud owner of rare finds as well.

Kyle - I always loved the specials, by far one of the nicest 300s before the 300c. That exhaust sounds great and that special exhaust added 5 hp compared to the non special 300m. Here’s one for you to find that has a lot of touches that this car has that you never see because they were made only for two years: Try to find and review a 2005/2006 chrysler Sebring TSi. It has to be a TSi though. It has similar lower body moldings compared to the 300m special. They are by far my favorite looking Sebring. They were also available as a 5 speed manual with the 2.7 v6 Just like the stratus r/t which they produced more of.

Great video Kyle. Thank you for finding a 300M special. I hate to say this but I think Chrysler went cheap on the later model 300ms. EX: non lit traction button, no courtesy lights in the doors like the older ones, cheaper infinity speakers. Also those 18" wheels were optional. It came standard with the Chrome 17"s wheels. Still its a sharp car. Just drove one last week. Though I think the regular 300M is more comfortable than the 300M special sport bucket seating.
@sibhusk712 жыл бұрын
Yes, I agree; those were beautiful cars. Too bad Chrysler stopped making them. The Mercedes 420 based architecture on the next gen. rear drive are great cars too, but I think Chrysler should have continued making this LH version. The 300M is the only version that has visually appealing front and rear overhangs (thanks to European-headed buyers for the Eagle). You know what I'm talking about Kyle.
