Not necessarily. Poltava always has Tzar Peter’s perspective and Carolus Rex is always from Carolus’ perspective. Lion From the North is also always from the Swedish perspective.

The ravages of the Swedish armies during the Thirty years war destroyed thousands of villages and hundreds of towns all over Germany, and 10 years after that war they repeated the trick in Poland (together with the Russians) in a 5 year plunder spree that is known in Polish history as "Potop" ie. The Deluge. But then again that was basically what all armies did at that point in time.

It was an evil time and Sweden was a extremely war-like nation back then. 30 years war? puh Sweden had been to war constantly for 70 years before that war and continued to be at war for a long long time after the 30 year war. Sweden was constantly being threaten by bigger wealthier nations surrounding it and over time developed quite a military capability and ofc used it to further its goals. Like all other European powers at the time. We don't speak about it much but when we do we don't deny the horrors unleashed by the Swedish military in historic times.

Well to a Swede there is a national lesson to be learned and a fact to accept, Sweden have been a aggressive military power historically and needs to hear the truth about the horror it unleased. No glory except for the faint glory of being a great plunderer and slaughterer of men. English version is about the heroic resistance of a desperat people and the irony of the war coming home after 30 years. I find it fitting, the bohemian campaign is difficult to impossible to justify morally or militarily. The peace was coming that is why Sweden launched the campaign in the first place, to grabb as much as possible while there was still time. As a Swede that was wrong, but it was almost 400 years ago so I don't loss much sleep over it or anything. But still it was a shameful act.

@@TheSlyngel We also bring up how we kept up a slave island even though it was illegal and shunned by europe at the time. But since it wasn't "officially" our island and quite far away, then it was discreet. We don't need to hide that we've been bastards, that our politicians have been incompetent and retarded for quite a few decades. It's patriotism and nationalism that creates this false pride to hide and deny crimes, as if anybody has never committed war crimes before. We've all done it and we even do corrupt stuff today. @@TheSlyngel no more shameful then the french throwing tens of thousands of men to their deaths after the ceasefire but before the armistice in WW1. emotionally and mentally broken men that just want to do as much damage as possible while they can will always exist. there is no shame in having them be associated with your nation, the shame would be to repeat their mistakes and fail to be graceful about the outcome.

1:22 its actually ”Death is waiting across the bridge.” They say ”Död” which naturally means death but a pretty neat thing sabaton did with this song is add upon it with ”En” (one) Död and en combined is Döden, who we refer to as Death/Grim reaper

About two of them, they were very important. The First Defenestration of Prague was cause of Hussite Wars and the third one was basically cause of Thirty Years' War. The War is taught but it's literally like: Those fought against those, those won. And that's it. I've never heard about Swedish Battle of Prague. History is a huge problem in the Czech school system. They teach us about Prehistory, Antic Greece or Roman Empire in detail and there's no more time for Modern History, so it is brief. Antic Greece has nothing to do with us at all. Kinda sad I think. We aren't taught so much about our own history.

"Staden står kvar" translates to "the city still stands", not "stands firm". "Döden väntar över bron" translates to "Death awaits across the bridge". "död en" is wrong if it was singular it would have been "en död" not "död en" the latter is incorrect Swedish grammar. Otherwise nice translation i have seen much worse.
