10,000 soldiers died at Blood Mountain in the southern Alps. Recently old barracks were uncovered after the melting of some glaciers. Ammo boxes with left over ammo and all.

Yep...you are correct! The planes depicts that they stay there frozen. From the time of Red Barons biplane to modern times, they still are there, guarding.

the brits actually set off the largest ever man made explosion by dynamite in the western theater while undermining the german trenches. wasnt doing much aside from raising the casualty numbers. but literally groundshaking. in snowy mountains such tactics become even incredibly more terrifying

About Soldier of Heaven song, some history and info if you want to read it 🙂 The thing is, they used the air planes, Artillery and such to START Avalanches in the alps to bury the enemy soldiers, during both world wars. On both sides. Several hundred thousand soldiers has died in the Alpine front. 'White Friday' (That is a Wednesday 13th December 1916). was a bad day when over 2000 soldiers died in the Avalanches, some civilians also.. Several Thousand bodies aare STILL not and probably never be found in the ice and snow...

A few years back, I went to the Austrian mountains, border with Italy, took a path up that the troops walked there. Got to hike through some old defensive positions there... Quite the view.

I'm from Michigan, I'm no stranger to the cold. I actually smile and cheer a little whenever the temperature gets below 80 here in Austin. But I cannot imagine the fear of dying from said cold, or even worse being buried under an avalanche to suffocate or freeze or both. God bless those who did not come home and grow old. RIP

Imagine the cold but also having to conduct trench warfare on the mountains and you get an idea of what these jaegars(austro-hungarian) and alpine troops (Kingdom of Italy ) had to go through

I’d love to see you react to Christmas truce! The planes we saw initially were from WW1, then we saw some WW2 planes showing the progression of time as the bodies were undisturbed, also tying into them “Keeping their watch forever” and “Seeing the soldiers come and go”
