The song is referring to the Battle of Caste Itter. American troops under John Lee joined with a group of German soldiers commanded by Josef Gangl to relieve the prisoners of Castle Itter who had managed to take control of the castle when the guards abandoned it(high profile prisoners were kept at the castle). Together they held off an attack by an SS unit until american reinforcements arrived. Unfortunately Gangl died at the battle. A great story you should really learn more about

The artwork is from the album The Last Stand. The story behind the song is crazy, American and German soldiers joining together to save French prisoners from Nazis in a medivial castle. I highly recommend the Sabaton history episode.

The belt of ammo is backward. The primer side should be toward the neck as the projectile end digs in. Really belted ammo should not be carried that way but got to look cool.

The artwork as previously mentioned in the comments is the album cover for "The Last Stand" which this song is included in. It spans over many different eras and regions which explains the mixture of warriors/soldiers.

This song is about the Battle of Castle Itter. It was a Medieval Castle in Austria that was renovated and used by the SS to house important French Political Prisoners. In the final days of the war the SS abandoned the Castle. The French POW's knew that the SS would eventually return and so they communicated with a nearby Officer of the German Wehrmacht, Gangel, who had been helping the Austrian Resistance. He in turn went to an American Tank Regiment, who was also nearby, and asked for help in defending the castle from the SS. The American commander, Lee, agreed and he and some of his tanks went to Castle Itter. At the Castle he positioned his tank named "Jenny" at the gates to the castle. So now you have the American Army and the German Wehrmacht joining together and defending French POW's from the SS. In the end the SS did attack and the troops inside barely held on until reinforcements arrived forcing the SS to retreat. It really is an amazing story and it is a shame that it isn't more well known.

This is a music video with only music and words. The background represents the appearance of a music CD. I don't know if Sabaton has an official music video for this song - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iorRh2mOYrOpfac . There is, however, one fan-made music video made from a documentary about the event. The band also has a separate channel - Sabaton History, where practically every story from the song is discussed.

Great reaction. To me, this is one of the most interesting stories of WW2 and showed that many (probably most) of the Wehrmacht were fighting because they were soldiers defending their country as opposed to the Waffen SS who were murdering thugs. When Joakim and Par wrote this, they thought it would be very popular and Joakim has said in interviews he still doesn't understand why it is not. Incredible bravery from both the American and German troops. Gangl was a German Wehrmacht Major who had been helping the Austrian resistance and was the only casualty among the defenders. He is honored in Austria as a hero. Thanks for continuing the Sabaton quest and keep rocking.

Well if tou are metal from previous century I assume megadeth paradise lost iron maiden judas priest and all that fun stuff you should know that in the metal community there is a belief that when maiden and priest retire the crown goes to sabaton.whis is pretty cool if tou consider that this band exists for 15 years or so
