Sabaton is from a small town called Falun in sweden. they were formed in 1999. The drummer is married to Floor Jansen from Nightwish. 99% of their song are about historic events and peaple. They have their own You tube channel called Sabaton history were they talk about their song and explain the event. The last stand is about 189 brave soldiers in the Swiss guard during the sacking of Rome in 1527. Since Charles V, ruler of the holy roman empire couldn’t pay his troops they mutinied and forced their commander to lead them towards Rome where plunder was plentiful. When the invading force entered the vatican pope Clement VII escaped to Castel Sant’Angelo via passetto di Borgo. The few remaining guardsmen gave their lives on the steps to St. Peters Basilica. some songs i can recommend for you is Carolus Rex, Ghost division ( live woodstock), Bismarck, Hell and back, 82 all the way, there are so many great songs. Greetings from Sweden

Battles/heroes/wars is Sabaton's thing. They have songs about legendary battles (Price of a Mile, Fields of Verdun, Screaming Eagles, Midway, Primo Victoria), a glorious but doomed last stand (Shiroyama, The Last Stand), famous soldiers (The Red Baron, To Hell and Back), a soldier/commander defying orders to do the right thing (No Bullets Fly, Hearts of Iron), a battleship (Bismarck), tanks (The Future of Warfare), Operation Iraqi Freedom (Panzer Battalion,) heck they even have a song about american and german soldiers fighting together against the Waffen SS in a castle(The Last Battle). Most of their albums have a theme such as Heroes, The Last Stand, The Great War, etc.
