I'm an American from Detroit. I love Nairobi!!!! It's hustle and bustle reminds me of a lot of American cities. And I have waited in that long line for a bus. Kenyans are some of the nicest people you will meet on the planet. Maybe I'm a little partial, because my wife is a Kenyan. But from my experience, I've come across nothing but friendly people. Even in the small villages.

Your swahili and that you are recording your experiences. However; you have done two things that makes me happy, the first one is that you have brought back some of the best memories in my life, 2nd, I can actually show other people how it is, without they thinking I am lying. I can guarantee you that by the end of your visit to all Cities of East Africa, Nairobi will wow you. Kenyans are not different from Tanzanians or Ugandans. We are basically the same people with very similar temperament and demeanour. Obviously with capitalism, some level crime does evolve in a society of any citizenry and Nairobi is no different but, common sense precaution is advised especially if you venture into the downtown Nairobi. Other than that, your best weapon is your fluency of the Swahili language which not only makes the local to respect you instantly but also confuse them on where to place you. Even a prospective conman will think twice before they engage you the moment you speak in Swahili. As for the Luo Kikuyu thing, whoever told you that the two tribes don’t like each other, lied to you. Tribalism only manifests itself during Presidential elections and that too because of incitement from politicians but at the societal level, Kenyans get on very well.

Ohhhh man. How do I summarize my feelings in just a single comment? I was born and raised in the US, but I'm half Kenyan. I've went there to see my mom's family three times so far. I just discovered you today and seeing this video makes me so homesick, you have no idea. My family would go to Nairobi a few times on my vacation to just sightsee and eat, then we'd go back to the countryside to the family. Truly some of the most incredible parts of my life. I've been very fortunate that I've been able to travel so far at a young age. Anyway, I could gush about this wonderful country all day. I'm sure you don't need me to tell you, but eat plenty of samosas and mandazis. Also happened to skim through the video and caught that matako comment, how naughty. ;) Thanks for uploading these videos, they make me sad and happy and I love them

Nairobi is friendly we just like to hustle here and there and everyone is minding their own business. Being aggressive doesn't equate it rudeness. Dar and Kampala things move little bit slow. I can appreciate your intention with your comment, but Josey doesn't need to be looked after by a foreigner she met only months ago (no matter how close they've gotten). She's a mature, capable adult, not a girl who needs to be "kept safe" and happy in the country and community in which she's lived her ENTIRE life. Your attitude (while well meaning) is condescending, so check it and do better in the future.

You have come to Kenya already with the mindset that Kenyans are not friendly and that luo and Kikuyu's hate each other. I also see some Kenyans here talking about nairobbery. It's a shame seeing people lack self dignity and echoing what perception outsiders have about Kenya which is not entirely true. Kenyans stop the self hate it's really a pity. Luos and Kikuyus only have issues during elections time. Other times they are brothers and sisters. Decolonize your minds.

Welcome to kenya my good friend, karibu sana. Nairobi is the most developed city in east and central africa, in terms of infrastructure, literacy levels and GDP. As for tom mboya, he was assasinated because of the politics of the time, he hails from the luo community and was seen somewhat of a threat to the then luo kingpin jaramogi odinga and was fast becoming popular nationwide. Nairobi is very hectic most of the time its a modern day city, but one of the most unique culture in nairobi is its Matatu culture, you will not find these pimped out public service vehicles anywhere in the world only in nairobi, graffiti and banging music. If you want to experience kenya get out of the city and go to the rural areas, vlogging in kenya is risky because of previous terror threats, otherwise enjoy

I loved Nairobi, some of the homeless can be aggressive, but most don't do that. I think because you were filming he assumed you had money to burn. But they were some of the friendliest people I ever had the privilege of spending time with. My first night there a few of us students went to a club downtown, after the taxi dropped us off we were informed that the club was closed for a private party. It was after 9 pm and the man working the door actually walked us Mzungas a mile accross the city to another rival club, when I offerred him $20 he looked at me like I had just shot his mother. I apologized profusely, and he told us if we wanted to compensate him then we should come back to his club and he would take good care of us. We did and he was wonderful. Got to know him well the 6 weeks we were there, and never went back to the other club that he took us to. I was 22, my first experience outside the US, and it was life changing.

Nice story, yes in England if someone does something for you, they do it because they like you or want to help, not for money. But I will add in some countries people are very poor and do these things for money, but when you do you get a big smile, like the lady I bought some flowers from for our garden, when I told her to keep the change her smile and words of thanks were so sincere, it wasn’t a lot. I live in Thailand.

It's really impressive how the whole area around Lavington, Kilimani, Kileleshwa has developed in the last 8-10 years. We lived off of Oloitokitok Rd which was basically a dirt road back in 2012. Anyway enjoy your stay. Try to get to Lamu somehow low budget. Or Rift valley. You won't regret it.
