Lockon Stratos Several gymnasts have won 4 gold medals in one Olympic Games edition: Larisa Latynina (USSR) in 1956, Vera Csavlaska (Czechoslovakia, all individual events) in 1968, and Ekaterina Szabo (Romania) in 1980. The USSR team won 5 medals in 1960, as well as Romania in 1984. Four gold medals have won the USSR in 1952, 1956,1972 and 1980; Hungary in 1956, Czechoslovakia in 1968, Romania 2004 and now US in 2016. The only new aspect is that Biles is the first black female to win 4 medals in one Olympics.

Aliya Mustafina's dismount was off and was not complete if you watch carefully and she hopped with her right or left foot as oppose to Madison Kocian's dismount which she nailed perfectlty yet she got silver? Laurie Hernandez was robbed too in the balance beam. What's with the judges?
@jayjaxon42728 жыл бұрын
i could be very wrong but isnt Maddie supposed to land with her legs together? and with that in mind then she and Aliya wouldve gotten the same errors on deduction Maddie for her legs being apart and Aliya for the step.
@jupiter99788 жыл бұрын
+Jay Jaxon But Mustafina commited THREE errors on her dismount. One, was the HOP, second the STEP and third, which was the biggest mistake was she landed obliquely instead of straightforward, meaning the rotation was incomplete. Twenty years ago Amy Chow had a huge deduction for a tiny hop HOP on her dismount where she got silver and so was Ekaterina Schzabo in 1984. A slight parting of legs on Kocian's landing was very minute unless of course a judge had predetermined Mustafina the winner already even before she performed. Trust me, get score was too high even if she had just one mistake on her landing.
@jupiter99788 жыл бұрын
+M2r2am Laurie was better than Wever on balance beam because Laurie had more risky tumbles, jumps and splits than Wever. Wever didn't even have a complete split. She just twirled three or four times and her dismount was too easy whereas Laurie's dismount was a lot harder and riskier.
@jayjaxon42728 жыл бұрын
+Jupiter what hop are you taking about? she took a step back thats it. you cant compare the old system with the new thats a bit ridiculous. back then a step on landing could mean the difference between forst and last because everybodys difficult was practically the same. now you can mess up the dismount as bad as Tweddle in 2012 yet still medal. its a bit ridiculous comparing the two eras actually.
@jayjaxon42728 жыл бұрын

Sticked with legs far apart, which is a big mistake.
@mojtabatollo8 жыл бұрын
Aliya could've stuck it cold but she took that extra step. I think that's a higher deduction than a wider gap between your legs.

+Lockon Stratos Sorry, no. Late pirouettes, missed handstands, feet separations... No way she deserved that. US overscoring at its best.
@tekkenfan018 жыл бұрын
+Miss Sunshine Madison was very consistent throughout the games, stuck all her landings, similar scores, the highest was 15.966, that would have won bars gold along with her world gold
