Sableye has always been my favourite Pokemon (alongside a few others) and I've ALWAYS said that Ash should've caught one! It suits him sooooooo much!! I was heartbroken when he bonded with the one in the Genesect movie but then didn't catch it 😭💔

Sableye is one of those overlooked Pokemon. He honestly reminds me of Stitch, especially the voice. He has that cute and feisty personality. 😊💜🥰

I agree Ash definitely should have catch Sableye cuz honestly when I first saw the Ruby and Sapphire series episode I thought Ash would catch it in the end but Sableye would have been a great Pokémon on Ash’s Team.

Sabeleye likely didn't join Ash's team in Hoenn due to Dark type in Japan, the Aku type, literally means "the Evil type" and part of the anime's original design philosophy was that no main protagonists could have a Dark type on their team, this is also why Corphish never evolved despite being a very prominent battler for Ash. This design philosophy wouldn't be repealed until the fifth generation with the franchise's soft reboot finally allowing Ash to have his first dark type in Scraggy followed by Krookodile.

I always hated that Corphish never evolved and a reason for that is not only due to Ash lacking final evo water Pokemon (Krabby to Kingler felt so rushed, but even then never battled again and until Greninja then left...), but the fact it had something of a rivalry with Treeko which it then evolved to Grovyle made the gap worse in making it jealous of all the attention Grovyle got from its new-found power. You would think that one it had become Sceptile that Corphish would have finally evolved to stand more toe to toe with its rival, but nah writers seems to just forget about the dynamic they added among those two of Ash's Hoenn Pokemon.

Sabelye would be an interesting addition to ash’s teams I think if ash were to return in a future series that could be an opportunity for ash to get one but I’m pretty sure that would be another journeys situation and no one what’s that and would prefer ash to catch some Gen 9 Pokémon since ash isn’t in horizon! Also I think you should do a video on all ash’s attempts on catching dunaparce people have been talking about that back when the journeys Saga was still airing. 😁👍

OMFG YES, I’ve always felt in Hoenn, Ash should’ve caught a Sableye instead of Glalie. Sure Glalie had a few decent wins but I’m not replacing Torkoal or Corphish. Also, it would’ve great to see Ash’s personality mix with a Dark type

Catching a Sableye is what I always ended up doing if I was having trouble against Brawley in Sapphire lol I'm not sure if Ash should have caught one though. I'm more annoyed he didn't get the shiny Phantump in Kalos. & they also kept not allowing him to catch a Dunsparce in Unova.

Sableye had been my uncontested fav pokemon since gen 3, only getting matched by Hoopa and Marshadow once they came to be. I like how frequently it showed up in the anime.

Ash with a Sableye would've been cool to see cause it cause scream Ash's Pokemon when you look at it. Really don't know why the anime held back on giving Ash a Ghost until Journey. There were plenty opportunities to give him one. Haunter in Kanto, Shiny Phantump in Kalos, Palossand in Alola and have Rowlet evolve into Decidueye. Plenty opportunities, maybe they thought a Ghost wouldn't fit Ash.

As a kid I saw an episode of a sableye in a team rocket episode So I had this Mandela effect for years that Jessie had a sableye Same for ash and camerupt So in my headcanon I always saw sableye more as a team rocket pokemon

Back when I was a kid I played pokémon emerald and my starter was Mudkip and it was the only pokémon I used but when I was In granite cave I caught a Sableye and put next to My Swampert and since there are SO MANY double battle's in emerald it grew a bunch of levels and along with My Mudzilla(Swampert) it was a force to be reckoned with and one of my favourite Pokemon

ash's missed opportunity can be categorized and made into novels... cause there were so many..... i really love sableye too, its one of the reasons i preferred sapphire more back then. plus getting it by gym 2 means you essentially have a nigh full counter to brawley

Another Pokémon I wish Ash would've caught was Dunsparce. There was even once he encountered one and wanted to catch it, but had no balls on hand so it fled. I could imagine Ash cameo in Horizons revealing it evolved into a Three Segment

I can't really see Mawile as an Ash mon as it seems to be suited for May or possibly Serena. Sableye, however, is definitely a good addition for Ash. But that's just my thoughts.

The most likely reason why Ash never caught a Sableye (or any other Dark-Type) is sadly lost in translation. In Japanese, the Dark type is actually written EVIL type and I’m sure the Pokémon company didn’t want its hero using a Pokémon that was viewed as “Evil”. This also carries over to the games since most evil teams use Dark type, and we never got a Dark type gym leader/specialist until Gen 7. Yes there was Sydney, but E4 doesn’t count since he wasn’t really a character.

I never found a ghots type that actually fit to Ash for me, (yes even this day i still doesn't feel that Gengar fits Ash personality and battle style), but after watching this video, that reminded me his anime debut and make a comparison with Snorunt I think that sableye would have been a great addition to Ash's Team and the perfect ghost type for his roster P.S. Now I just need to find a fairy type that fits with Ash and i have a headcanon where Ash has a pokemon of each of the type

He has the same energy as Gengar in pranking people. Him and Gengar would've gotten along so well. That would've been ash's second ever ghost type. Would have been cool to see the new member. Sebleye was never my favorite to battle in the mystery dungeon games.

Ash with a Sableye would've been very interesting. While I like Glalie, it was way too far down the road and didn't have as many chances as it should've. I don't think Sableye would be the strongest member of the Hoenn team but I do think it could've been a great help in battles like Norman's sloths.

Sableye remains as one of the few Pokémon that eludes Ash’s capture despite how Ash bonded with one throughout an entire episode and another within an entire movie. But alas, the cave dwelling ghost/dark type remains an elusive Pokémon for which young Ash Ketchum decided not to capture and have been a successor to Haunter (another missed opportunity).
