Half is fake history. Real history is different even the real history is also written in iran historian shafirduddin ali yezids book called zafarnama. After timur sacked Delhi a coalition of Indian kingdoms were formed called mahapanchayat which had 80k soldiers and 40k female soldiers. After sacking Delhi timur went to invade meerut but he was defeated by mahapanchayat coalition of 120 soldiers. 80k male soldiers were commanded by mahabali jograj singh gurjar and 40k women soldiers were commanded by rampyari gurjar. The total 120k army was formed of different Indian clans. Amd female soldiers were fighting with guerrilla tactics like attacking timur ration camps and their resting soldiers and 80k male soldiers were fighting head on. Timur was defeated in meerut hence he flees to haridwar to sack the holy city but again he was defeated by mahapanchayat coalition in which the sub commander of mahapanchayat coalition went straight to timur and throwed a spear in timur chest but then was saved by his bodyguard but sub commander died. Timur was again defeated in haridwar hence fleed India but later di ed by infection wound.

I don't think that something that happens by chance - i.e birth - should entirely determine your life. Back then, the common civilian couldn't sleep with peace because she/he always had consistent wars at their doorstep. That is not really living, that is merely surviving. At least now, in most places, this fear of being massacred doesn't ruin anyone's sleep (of course there are exceptions in some regions, I won't deny).

On his way across the highway into northern India, Timur downloaded Blinkist and, reading up on history, realized that the Sultanate of Delhi were passionate reenactors of the late Western Roman Empire. Knowing how this turned out for nomadic horsemen, Timur did his thing. He would be one of the few people to ever create unity between India's muslims and hindus, by forcing them to fight for their lives together. Truly inspiring. Timur won the battle of Delhi because the Sultan made the rookie mistake of using elephants who, like in every battle since Ipsus, were afk for half the match and didn't get any kills. They then proceeded to yell at him over Skype. Just as he was in the process of reenacting the Sack of Rome, Timur noticed that a guy named Bayezid had made a call-out post on Twitter and thus raced back to the Middle East in order to record the Diss Track that would end Bayezid's career.

the delhi sultanate had a hostile Hindu population under their control and a lack of any system of royalty which led to huge political instability. For their entire existence they went through 5 dynasties in 1 state and this hampered their conquests of India even though individual leaders were very competent in military ability. This problem would only later be solved through the Mughal dynasty taking over the throne, which provided a stable rule that would extend the borders of Delhi to its highest extent

Things that i would like to point out : - The city boundary, shape and location that you have shown is the later city of Shahjahanabad which was built in 1748 as 8th city of Delhi, while the 14th century city of Delhi was slightly south of that place and named "Firozabad". - The Jama Masjid in question is not the current Jama Masjid that is famous, but the Jami Masjid in the Ruins of this city (Jama masjid simply means Congregational Mosque). Timur went back and had a mosque built exactly like that in his empire because he liked it so much

The Timurid's are one of the most overlooked conquers in history. Yeah apparently they used to build pyramids and place a human skull on top of it, striking fear into subjects and enemies alike. It would look pretty ominous to see a bunch of pyramids with a skulls on top. Medieval 2 Total War first introduced me to the Timurid's when I was a kid like 15 years ago. Great game.
@bluskies1000
@bluskies1000 2 жыл бұрын
Most overlooked in the USA. He never went further west than Russia and Turkey, He conquered the Turks and carried the Turkish Grand Sultan around in a giant bird cage. Later the Turks wasted and terrorized Russia and Europe with massive slave raids... Actually they built pyramids outside every city they sacked made entirely of the human heads of the slain. Timur once built his own Wailing Wall. He had a tall wall built of living people and bricks, with the peoples heads and feet protruding, screaming and begging (in Persia I think). He was many sided, liked education, art, architecture, was very sadistic, started as a cattle rustler, bandit, and ended world conqueror. He was famous for sacking all libraries and sending the books to Samarkand his capitol, He also sent all captured artisans of all types to Samarkand- the books left behind he burnt, the leftover artisans enslaved or killed.. Lucky for China he died before he got around to them. Persia credits Timur for the loss of at least 1/3rd of all their history, science, medical knowledge, art. I read Timurs book. Timurs great problem was he conquered and ruled wherever he was, and whenever he left, rebellion broke out.

Both suffered everytime the central asians or Iraninan empires decided to strike. After his death his descendant continued that dome from north India to russia than it become symbolic element in russian architecture.

I wonder how things would have played out if the Sultans of Delhi received help from the Jaunpuri Sultanate, the Ujjaniya Rajputs and the Rajputana under the nominal leadership of Mewar. These were the dominant powers in North India at the time apart from the Delhi Sultans. All of them boasted significant heavy cavalry of Afghan, Rajput and Turkic origin. This would have meant Timur's flanks being threatened by the South and the West, and massive reinforcements for Delhi from its immediate neighbours in the East. With each of these players being able to field at least 10,000 cavalry, I'd imagine even Timur would have had a hard time. If only there was a Total War: Medieval India.

The problem with total war Medival India, is the same problem that 3 kingdoms has, after awhile it just gets ...Samey, since the unit variety won’t be huge. Ofcourse the Indian subcontinent was a diverse place , but in reality there wouldn’t have been. A HUUUGE difference in terms of the unity variety. Of course, the games set in Europe, / west Asia have the same problem - the Celtic factions are very similar, the Persianate factions are similar, the Arab factions are similar the Hellenic factions are similar etc BUT those faction blocks ARE quite distinct from one another. You can take a Celtic Suebi tribe and invade Persia if you like and the two armies fighting each other would be so massively different it creates a strange fantasy. A total war set in India or China lacks that, and after awhile it gets stale. There’s a reason that Total War Warhammer is the most popular total war ever, and it is because the Factions are all completely different.

It is important to realize the extent of deterioration that had taken place in the Delhi Sultanate. In the events following Allaudin Khilji 's death, Rajputana under Sissodiyas, Deccan under the Bahamanis and South India under first the Nayaka then the Vijayanagar empire drove out the Sultanate armies. While Tughlaqs looked to keep control of the falling fortunes, regional Indian rulers had copied much of Alaudin's Khalisa system to raise stronger and better quality armies. Delhi Sultan's loss of Sindh, Rajputana and Gujarat affected the cavalry department badly. Since these were the only regions with good cavalry breeds apart from the imported horses. So the cavalry contingents became fewer in the Delhi armies. Defeats at the hands of the Bahamanis and the Rajputs in Rajputana further showed the detoriation of the military infrastructure. By the time of Feroz Shah Tughlaq, the Sultanate army quality was lower than that of its vassal governors.

You know one of the most irritating things is that this routing of Delhi Sultanate by locals is never taught in our textbooks. Basically tell a Hindu that you are a coward who was always ruled by others.

What I feel more important is to really emphasize the collapse of Alaudin and Balban's Khalisa system and market reforms. The Sultans were able to maintain their power on the strength of their Khalisa lands which enabled them to raise their own personal retinue. Alaudin reformed the market, setting fixed and lower price range to make regular commodities affordable for his troops kept near Delhi. Thus, thanks to these steps Delhi Sultanate could always fight any foe, be they local Indian or foreign Mongolian, with a decided logistical initiative, being able to maintain their army ever ready for action. With the civil wars that followed Alaudin's death, this system broke down and soon the Sultan's central power decreased till the time he became just the first among equal chiefs and nobles.

@@muharremrevani3895 Khalisa or in Persia the Khassa system was basically a large fief from which the ruler would raise his own troops rather than rely on his feudatories and governors. Alaudin Khilji brought in market reforms lowering prices and inflation, this enabled him to maintain larger army through his khalisa lands. These troops would later often be called Khasgi or Khassa troops. Also Turkic military system was used by the Sultanate armies: Amir commanded a regiment or Risala, often called a Risaldar. A Malik commander multiple amirs and their Risalas, was also called often the Faujdar. Timur is a tactical genius, he immediately capitalized both on his strengths and his enemy's weaknesses. He did not want long sieges so he used terror and military prowess on the field to scare cities into submission. He also used a favourite mongol tactic of terrorising the countryside to force many of its inhabitants to flee to cities to quickly starve the defenders and to spread panic in the city.
