Well, if it's any consolation, I'm sure Felix had a great life beginning the day you rescued him. And it's good that you now know about those specific fleas just in case you should encounter those symptoms again. The house/colors look great ! This past week there's been plenty of talk about the coming El Nino and I've seen some projections on how it may affect parts of the U.S. but haven't seen or heard anything about impact on central Mexico. Glad to hear the air quality is improving....that must be a relief.

I’m so sorry for your loss. In a way, I think it’s good your other kitty was there to see. I think Felix just vanishing without a trace would be even more traumatic. 😢

I agree, but he has not been the same since. He is finally adjusting, but he definitely was grieving for a while and needed lots of extra affection and cuddling.

Tropical plants thrive in the jungle. Lots of rain and high humidity. Here we suffer 8 months with no rain and no humidity. Even watering everyday, grass and plants struggle. I believe San Antonio may even have water rationing during the dry months. Good luck.

Yes. I plan on planting natives that are well adapted to this climate like plumeria, desert rose, crotons, etc. The bougainvillea that are in the yard already survive on neglect. It is possible to plant densely to create a cooler back yard, habitat for birds and insects, yet thrive on the summer downpours that we get here. Observing nature is key to understanding what can thrive....and lawns are definitely not on the list.

I will hopefully do an update on the house progress and moving soon. We do miss Felix, but his little body just was in worse shape than I realized and there was nothing I could have done anyway. Thank you.

So sorry about Felix. Sad. We have been here in Jocotepec for just over a month now and kind of done with it for a number of reasons. Moving on to Patzcuaro, Michoacan next week for clearer air and more accessibility on foot and public transport to things we need. We may return some day but not too soon.

She went into more detail in a comment on my latest video on Weather & Climate. They were staying at Roca Azul during April and May....the hottest, smokiest, dustiest weeks of the year. Roca Azul is quite a distance from Jocotepec, not in town. I love Joco, but found it nearly impossible to find any rentals or homes for sale in town. There are no real estate agencies in town. So, for those reasons, they weren't happy the area. Most people who visit Jocotepec and Roca Azul specifically, love it! When people choose to visit can be a deal-breaker.

Good to see you back but so sorry about Felix 😢 our 18 year old Billy is having old age issues too. Wanted to tell you that we have had very good luck with our mexican bank…Intercam. Actually i think they are out of Puerto Rico? We either write a US bank check and deposit or wire in the money using Wise. We can go to the Scotia ATM and withdraw $8000 pesos a day and not have to go into town to the bank👍. See you around shopping….Sherrie

So you don't get charged fees from Intercam for using Scotia ATM? That is great! I have to get my RFC before I can get a Mexican bank account....a hurdle I haven't conquered yet.

@@anythingispossiblenow correct! We didn’t have our RFC when we opened our account but maybe rules have changed? You might ask them. They seemed to be more lenient about things there….we had purchased our home but didn’t even have our temporal completed yet.

Does the smoke and weather create alot of cleanup to do on your windows, sidewalks, etc.?

It requires nearly daily cleaning inside and out! My patios get covered with dirt in a day. The kitchen counter and pretty much everything in the house gets covered with a layer of dirt within a day or two. I think I'm going to buy stock in the microfiber cloth industry....LOL!! I've really never been much of a person to dust the house, but cleaning is a must during May!

@@anythingispossiblenowI know a guy in SMA who has to use air purifiers and wear Kn95 masks due the dust, pollen, etc., esp during April and May.😅
