I do believe in spinal health. 65 and i suffer from low back pain, diag as arthritis in the two lowest spaces of my spine. I never know when it will flair up. I’m in very good health otherwise, I workout fairly regularly, not overweight, eat and drink in moderation. I have started my mornings with a routine of hanging from a bar with just my body weight to stretch my back. I am up to about 80-90 seconds. It feels great so I will follow that with these squats.

@drphilgardner did you have any underlying back issues or just general back pain?
@drphilgardner Жыл бұрын
@@adilabibou About fifteen years ago I pinched a nerve in my back. The doctor told me that there was nothing he could do about it. So, I have lived with a chronic, mild back pain. However, since starting the exercise (every morning - 21 deep knee bends with my hands clasped together over me head) my pain has disappeared. Also, my posture has improved and, instead of being a hunched over old man (I'm 69) I stand erect. I think that the exercise strengthens the back muscles. The best way to explain it is to compare my back with an elastic band, Over time, an old, well-used elastic band loosens and gets flimsy. The back exercise reverses this "loosening" and, as I walk around these days, I feel like my spine (the elastic band) has been tightened and propels me to walk erect with good posture.

I've had a slipped disc (L4/L5) since 24 due to overloading a squat bar to impress. What a tool! Now 54 still have debilitating episodes every couple of years. Though one thing I've always done is random squat sets or always ensuring my hams are resting on my calves if I bend down for some reason. Also I hunker a lot to play with the dog, garden or clean up before my better half sees the mess i made cooking. Squatting as much as you can is in our dna.
