Sadiq Khan is not what most people would call 'British'. Unfortunately, London, likewise, can no longer be regarded as British, certainly not in a cultural and demographic sense. Uncontrolled immigration is eating away at the soul of many of Britain's cities. The Country's history, culture, traditions and way of life is being slowly cancerously destroyed. In 2 decades the native population of our capital city has become a minority - unthinkable in nearly all self respecting Nations around the World. This Country has been very badly let down by successive weak Governments pandering and fawning to every minority group. Enoch Powell was right.

What a spectacularly dim-witted ideologue Khan really is!! He comes across to me like a kid who has been selected as lead pupil of a school and has let his position go to his head, thinking he has all the glory, but no responsibility to uphold the dignity of the position he holds. When we remember Ken Livingstone, then Boris Johnson, we could at least point to something they did which was a benefit to Londoners. Ken you will remember, introduced the 10p flat fare on the buses, which led to a leap in the use of public transport. Boris Johnson introduced the "Boris Bike", (although Livingstone did the original feasibility studies to see if it would work). I cannot think of anything Khan has done which has actually benefitted Londoners. Can anyone else? I would be interested to learn of such things....if they exist.

The suffragettes didn’t want women’s rights. Only woman of stature and their votes and rights. I don’t like the prejudice they displayed to middle and lower class women. Wasn’t taught any of this in school!

Nothing ever said about the other movement of that time, tio allow all people to vote, from working class upwards. Pankhurst hated that movement because she did not believe that the working class should vote or have a say in anything. 🙏🕊️

The suffragists? Pankhurst hated the working class so much she wanted to sterilize all working class women.

iT is absurd to call all those in the former Suffragette movement terrorists . Many people including many men supported votes for Women. Untill the end of the 19th century women were very badly treated in Britain and only after the Married Woman's property Act , was there any fairness to women. Before that women were just men,s Chattels . I think it is an excellent idea to name a a railway line . Gospel Oak is a very progressive area too!

I like it as well, and am a feminist, but I just don't see the correlation between feminism and a train line.

They've all already had perfectly good names! We've got The Watford DC Line, The Goblin Line, The North London Line, The East London Line, The Lea Valley Lines and the Romford to Upminster Line. The are all operated as London Overground. These names are historic and reflect where they go and would not be confusing to Londoners and tourists alike.

Also they gave out white feathers to men who were not in uniform, who may have had 'hidden wounds' or were sick or in important jobs! I had a great uncle who was underage, but appeared older, but was shamed into joining up. He was killed! They did not restrict their 'work' to Gt Britain either but stirred up women in Russia, too!

It's also a fallacy that they got women the vote. They did not. Women earned that right themselves, proving that they could do the work of men in wartime. That is how women gained equal rights. To me as a woman, it is a mystery why this movement are practically sanctified.

Interesting facts; Eligible women first got the vote with the 40 shilling freehold act of 1430. 34,000 men died on the side of the parliamentarians so we could have a democracy in the UK, a further 880,000 men died in the first world war that was one of the reasons why we were given to vote, zero women have died fighting for the vote, because zero women have fought for the vote (carrying a banner and terrorism isn't fighting, it's activism) the suffragettes used chemical weapons on four occasions. They invented the letter bomb There were 2,000 women in the suffragettes, 20,000 women in the Women's National Anti Suffrage Union; 10 times more women opposed to women voting, than women opposed to the majority of women voting. The suffragettes banned men from joining (but some men still did, and were imprisoned, and went on hunger strike, and at least one was force fed), the men who couldn't formed their own groups, the largest of which was the Manchester men's Union. Women, AND the majority of men got the vote because of an act of universal representation (that the suffragettes were opposed to), as far as I can tell, this was passed because of four reasons; 1, the war effort of women during the first world war 2, the war effort of men during the first world war 3, the peaceful campaigning of the suffragist movement 4, the Russian revolution (they preferred to give up a bit of power rather than lose it all) ie, nothing to do with feminism or the suffragettes.
