It makes much more sense if Remilia is the one who says "Looks like it's gonna be a cold night." since she might be taunting Marisa that she will lose and she is going to suck her blood, thus making it a "cold night" (or just referring to the general lack of blood in vampires). But in this case it's Marisa who said it, so I'm betting it's either a random line ZUN pulled out of his ass and thought it was cool, or a case of the translator failing to communicate the original intent of the lines.

EoSD is difficult for different reasons than the rest of the series. It suffers a lot of fake difficulty, namely the differently-sized hitboxes and huge randomness elements. A large portion of Remilia's fight is random, which means victory is more a feat of luck than skill. Interestingly, LoLK suffers a few of the same problems.

both games cant be compared, they both hard they both takes time and patience. i finished touhou before sans , both have their own aspects and play styles , in touhou the attack pattern keep changes based on your character position so you need to look at your surroundings, however sans doesn't his attack will always be the same, but remembering the pattern, rythm, and timing is what makes it hard , touhou character travel faster than heart in undertale. what makes it even more less comparable, touhou are a game that was made supposed to be a bullet hell game from the start, meanwhile undertale isn't, undertale was supposed to be a turn based RPG, but things changes when we meet sans in the genocide mode,we may thinks it looks like bullet hell but actually its not , its a rhythm game after all , however we also need to check on surroundings because sans can still attack us even in our turn, in the turn based game where enemies supposed to be stopped, so in the end both games can't be compared , both games have their own play styles, and one can't simply judge each other was easier game because they were both different.

The shift key is sort of an essential. Here's a more detailed list of controls and stuff to know: Z to shoot(sometimes to charge certain attacks like Youmu's sword attack in TH13) X to bomb(sometimes item based, sometimes power based) C for trance(in TH13. you can activate trance mode if your gauge is full) Shift to focus(in TH8, you switch to phantom mode this way) Hold down shift if you need to micrododge(dodging WITHIN a barrage) Don't if you need to macrododge(dodging an entire barrage)

Personally, I didn't try to perfect things before moving onto higher difficulties. Your first clear of Hard/Lunatic/Extra etc. is going to be incredibly painful, but then it'll come easier and easier and you'll be able to rewatch your old replays and laugh =)

@xeyeyannuhx Grazing means your character touches the bullets, but it doesn't connect with the hitbox - where your character has to be hit to be counted for a hit. Grazing racks up points. And points = extra lives. Later games in the series focus a lot more on grazing, actually, so it pays to get close to death, I suppose.

EoSD has literally the worst grace period for bombing in any Touhou game to date. The grace period is a combination between input lag and when the game decides you can't bomb anymore. It is exceedingly rare to hit the bomb key in the same instance the death sound plays, because you can't react, you have to know before you even get hit it's going to happen. Other games, like IN (Touhou 8) have an EXTREMELY long grace period of nearly a second and a half, which is one of the reasons its the easiest Touhou games; it's the reactive bombing training wheels game. (At least on Reimu/Yukari)
