I just realized something... When Stanley, the office guy, is glitching into his younger office self, well, since this is kind of an AU of the Stanley Parable, when he died in the game, everything resets, and we know the clock is connected to that time travel... when he's lying there, glitching back, his body wants to go back, but it can't come back, because the clock, which his life is connected to, is broken. The worst part is, he was killed by a being that exists because of a piece of the clock that was meant to save him.

@@mintboy460 I haven't played the Stanley parable myself, but from what I know, there's definitely nothing like the glitchy robots in the game. That's another something new Sadist added for her own story. As to what they are, I dunno. They each have a piece of the broken clock inside of them, though, and we know they can't function without it.
@AverageDot Жыл бұрын
@@zelda1420 I mean, You have just made a working theory! In the AU SADist made, Stanley's Life is reliant on the clock. Each time he dies, they turn time back and bring him to the starting point, while Overseer is likely an extra measure to make sure that Stanley "goes right by the script". And by that, we can see that the Overseer is ALSO a robot at some sorts. Though he's not glitchy, and neither could have other forms. He was created as a human for Stanley to think that he is. When he gets mortally wounded, and Overseer loses one of his arms, Stanley looks like he's surprised, by that we could think that the Overseer hid his true nature from him. The most tragic thing here is that Overseer himself STUDIED, and he understood that his doings were apparently wrong. He fixed his mistake, and then decided to just confront Stanley himself, likely to offer him a chance to get out.. Or at least that's how I see the ending.

One thing I love about this is how Stanley seems much more competent which obviously makes sense for the story since he's been fighting the narrator for potentially hundreds of loops. Meanwhile, the narrator has always been reliant on technology to do the work for him. Therefore his reaction speed is lower when faced with danger (at 1:10 Stanley pulls him out of the way). Also, Stanley is the one who sets out to find him while he boards himself up in a room. When Stanley enters the room, the narrator turns around to defend himself and sees Stanley in the middle of the room. If it was one of the creatures, it could have already attacked in that time once again showing that he's not really equipped for this situation. The only way he survives at all is the fact that he's not human and the creatures seem to be after Stanley as a priority.

This time, having destroyed the loop, there is no guarantee he will actually be able to come back. I believe that's why he looks so much more afraid here than he ever did when we saw him die in Yellow Zone. To top it off, immediately after experiencing what would likely have been permadeath, he finds himself back in his office. He's been brought back yet again, to the start of it all, with no way of knowing what the narrator intends to do with him, now that he's regained control. This is so gorgeous, the Stanley Parable fandom is feasting tonight (I know this is kinda an original, kinda an AU, but nonetheless). The interesting thing is, I rewatched this and was able to see so much more because I knew how the characters were thinking and their thought processes throughout the animation! Like the few micro-expressions we get when the Narrator/Yellow dude is first pinned by one of the hunters/monsters/programs where you can see the realization that he recognizes that in this being's "eye" is a cog piece, one which he thinks might be linked to his pocket-watch and its time abilities. But also how, once he guarantees that Stanley/the office worker is in fact dead as his blood begins to pool out of him, the Narrator consigns himself to resetting the timeloop/line before reconstructing the watch using the cogs he obtained in a _genuinely grief/emotion fueled rampage._ How do we know this isn't just him being pissed off at the fact the easier and less risky way out of this timeline was taken away? This (2:46 to 2:47) damn expression! That right there is the face of someone incapable of reconciling that a friend/loved one is dead, and then is abruptly brought back to reality (2:47) and then given an easily available target to lash out at (2:49 to 2:50). The expressions right before the reset, as the Narrator begins to reset everything (3:23 to 3:24) as you see his mouth pull tight, jaw clench, and more stress lines appear around his eyes, not to mention the overall body posture... And this is just looking at the internal conflict the Narrator has over the stop watch after he's found out about the gears!!! _This is but one instance!!!!_ Thank you for sharing this with everyone! It is really, really, really well done and executed amazingly! The music choice, synching, SFX, sound effects, and pacing of this were all phenomenal!!!!!!

Oooh YES!! Well said!!
@anicrue Жыл бұрын
@@Steven04 Thanks, I became a little too focused on this! Genuinely, I'd recommend watching it all below or at 0.75x speed, because you see so much you'd normally miss! For example, right after the Narrator gets the first gear, as he's standing up and rushing to Stanley, for like 2 frames he pockets the gear as he gets up! Then, during the trip to the Exit, he constantly has his altered hand in the coat pocket with the cog. Conspicuously, it feels like it should be relevant that he doesn't remove his hand from said pocket until he realises that they're surrounded and he tries to tackle Stanley out of the way, actually forgoing the bag and risking losing the gear as he lunges _with_ the altered hand, previously holding on to the cog in the pocket, furthest stretched in a grab. (Long analysis ahead, and no time stamps, sorry) Analysis: They've been stuck in this decaying world for a long enough time, evident by the change in clothing from the first animation from this AU by SAD-ist, established meeting place, reflexes, and lack of surprise at seeing each other. This leads me to believe they at least formed a sort of "companionship in the midst of chaos" kind of relationship, one weak out of stress, but good under duress because they _need_ the other to survive (isolation is a very dangerous thing, among other dangers). That out of the way, we know the Narrator cares about Stanley, evident by the near immediate checking up on him after the first attack, supporting and helping him walk with an injury, and even honouring his escape attempt despite not really believing it to work. (look at that scene again, he does not in any way believe this is going to work, but is going along with it and trying to smile encouragingly [clearly a grimace] for Stanley's sake.) But the cog is kept a secret, I suspect originally out of fear and guilt for Stanley. After all, the dude literally made Stanley relive the same moment and die over and over again in various ways, not all fast, of course after becoming attached to him he'd feel guilty and afraid of Stanley's response (that man has every right and reason to want to chuck the Narrator off the nearest cliff, especially if he thinks the time loop is about to be reset). So! By removing his hand from the cog's pocket and reaching forward (primarily) with it, it could be an illustration of how his fear and concern over Stanley override his protectiveness over the cog, representing a guaranteed way back out as well as a way to repair his station and abilities, in addition to his theoretical fear of rejection and Stanley's response. I can go on... that's how much is going in here and can be picked up without dialogue.

Which is weird because he doesn't die immediately after. Which tells us that the conditions for reset isn't death, but merely mortal injury. Which means: Stanley's never actually died before, because the clock always reset him before that could happen. At least until 2:44 of course. These facts combined makes 3:32 even more heartbreaking with the added knowledge that this was his first time actually *dying.* SADIST YOU ARE A FLIPPING GENIUS

I love how the glitching and genuine sustained injury from the start already plants in your mind that Stanley's safety net and timeloop of death has been taken away, really makes things more tense. Also love how, by destroying the clock and fracturing the world around them (Seriously seeing that broken floating world as the aftermath from the previous animation is so cool!), it seems whatever simulation or game is breaking so much that the systems intended to kill Stanley from before have turned against the both of them. But the Narrator manages to save Stanley with whatever connecting powers he has left, reforming the watch and bringing them back to square one. Except this time, Stanley is so glad to be back there, back to life, and this time the Narrator isn't going to sit behind a screen.

I'm a huge sucker for ambiguous relationships (enemies or people who dislike each other helping each other) and judging by this and the last animation, I'm sure the guy with the glasses eventually protects the other protagonist and rewinds the time every time to stop him from reaching the "Exit" door where he dies. The brown haired protagonist naturally loses his memories from a specific moment and tries to escape the loop. I ADORE these, including the songs.

0:58 I find it interesting that Stanley is drawn to have distinctly sharper and less cubed teeth while they are arguing.. Where the narrator has teeth that are all level and toped with a flat line, even the denotation of where his incicers should be is flat instead of sharp. And then Stanly has round molars, sharp canines. Idk if its supposed to mean anything, I just think its neat.

Genuinely so gutted over Narrator's reaction to Stanley's wound. I'm hoping desperately that you have more of these planned. If not, no stress; I'll continue to watch this and fall in love!
@2048-j7q Жыл бұрын
Okay. Here's my interpretation. And for the sake of being clear and make this wall of text shorter, since these characters are yet to have official names, i would refer to them as Narrator and Stanley, and monsters as Shards So... In Yellow Zone we see that Narrator is in full control of the whole environment including time and is keeping Stanley as a prisoner in this realm of his. But at the end Stanley breaks the watch, taking away Narrator's control and, as a consequence, his power over the realm which causes shards of the watch to get scattered across the world in search of a way to either become whole again or completely destroy everything within the realm starting from only cautious beings in it - Narrator and Stanley. But then world won't be able to reset at all since there won't be anyone to use the clock as it is merely a tool. But here's a catch. Shards are unable to kill Narrator. Why? Because he is not a human. Narrator can easily survive wounds that would be fatal for a human and still function. And from the way his eyes flickered for a bit when he fell on the ground and the way skin(shell) just peeled of his hand when he got the first gear we can clearly tell that he is a robot or an AI who was most likely created to control this realm with Stanley trapped inside of it. And to control it he was given a watch which, upon shattering, also made the world itself crumble apart. If we look into it, you'll notice that Narrator was hesitant to restart the line yet again at the end, because, he knew that this will also bring them both back to the initial loop and Narrator's job of watching over Stanley as prisoner. But then it was him who broke said loop by disobeying the rules of it and abusing the loophole(no pun intended) in "Keep the prisoner" objective. And if my interpretation is at least somewhat close to the actual version i would really love to see whoever is behind the making of Narrator, what caused Stanley to get trapped in the loop and whether they'll try to escape this realm together now that Narrator had restored control over the realm. And yes i do believe that this isn't the whole world, but just one of many similar realms in a way bigger world or, perhaps, a simulation of hundreds or thousands of similar ones just with different people in them
@applejuice8271 Жыл бұрын
So cool! Thank you so much for posting your interpretation! Sounds really good to me:)
@helplessnarwhal3722 Жыл бұрын
I like your interpretation, however I didn’t realize Narrator could be a robot/AI. I had a feeling he wasn’t human, but that the arm wasn’t his until he grabbed the Shard. Because he wasn’t human the Shard didn’t kill him but instead changed him.
@trashcantdomuch1596 Жыл бұрын
Perhaps we’ll be seeing some more reference to the mind control facility if your theory of other people being trapped is true. Also, perhaps the higher being (someone above the narrator) could be The Curator? Or at least, someone in that role. Can’t wait for fancy lady to show up in the lore.

Little details I noticed in this banger of an animatic, a list: 1:01 Yellow Eyes' tongue is grey. 1:20 WHAT'S THAT? IT'S YELLOW EYES WITH A STEEL CHAIR /j 1:43 He puts the gear in his pocket! 1:51 Pink Blood has a metal plate(?) in his side, followed by a sequence of him dying in different ways. The sequence ends with a torso wound in the same place the metal plate is now. 2:29 The box monsters flash into human(???) sillouhettes, similar to the workers seen in Yellow Zone. 2:38 When the box monster hits the wall, it (the wall) breaks apart and reforms, just... more glitchily. If that makes sense. 2:40 As Pink Blood is dying, he flashes between his hoodie outfit and his work shirt, and his eyes turn grey. 2:48 There's blood on Yellow Eyes' hand. 2:55 Yellow Eyes' eyes flash black. 3:26 As the clock forms, you can see the broken skyscraper in the background remake itself. 3:41 Yellow Eyes is holding the clock. This is by no means a comprehensive list, and I encourage you to please add on in the replies!
@billcipher_natchosans Жыл бұрын

I have to be honest: after watching this yesterday, I just had to try my hand at animation. When I was a freshman in high school, I thought I would want to become a manga artist or animator, but that dream died as I went through high school and became very burnt out. I'm now a senior (I hate college aps omg please save me-) and have no idea what I want to do. The other day my mom sat down with me and looked me in the eye and said that out of everything I had been considering, she could only see me doing animation. Which I have in fact, never done at all. It's terrifying, trying to plan your future with no experience in an area and only a guess that it's something you will like. But everytime I watch any of SAD-ist's animations I feel so much emotion and passion, even for the ones I don't know the back story to. My friend a year ago had sent me a few DSMP animations from SAD-ist. I immediately fell in love, and devoted many hours of watching lore purely so I could watch the animations with an understanding of what was happening. But seeing them create their own original content inspired me to pour some hours into research of how to do animation. And holy heck. I made something that moves. And it doesn't look half bad. And I enjoyed it more than I have ever enjoyed doing art. Thank you SAD-ist. You may have just helped me learn how to dream again. With that being said, I would love to read the story behind clock 0ut! I know it's based on the stanly parable (guess who spent five hours watching Stanley Parable videos after Yellow Zone came out-) but still, would love to hear or read the dialog that happened in this video! Once again, amazing masterpiece with some very minute details that really add an entire extra layer! I was looking through the comments to see if I was the only one who thought this but when the yellow eyed man discarded the glasses that are similar to what he used to wear, doesn't he seem regretful? Could this be symbolism of him changing? I may be way off the mark and I doubt anyone has read this far down lmao. Anyways, if you see this SAD-ist, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ANIMATING THINGS!!!! 1:39 his skin flakes off like it was dried paint, I wonder if narrator in this AU isn’t what he seems. (Also he bleeds yellow, not typical for a human) It’s also kind of odd, we always perceived narrator to be the one who always had control over everything, it must be a little scary for him to- Not have control anymore. To be a pawn in this world, to be like Stanley. Though, I still bet Narrator still knows his way around this strange broken world he’s found himself in, seeing as how he reacted with the.. Glitch Hunters. While as Stanley seemed more erratic, narrator immediately punched them in the *yellow zone* But, imagine being Stanley in this situation, not knowing anything going on. Being the ultimate pawn in a world where you have your power and subjected to someone else’s will, a world where your possibly the only human.

I don’t even know how to put it into words- also SERIES? This is straight up incredible. The lip-syncing without audio, the movement and action, the character expression, the general quality of the animation, and it’s so fluid?? Every part of this is just amazing.

I’m so impressed with the inclusion of all the sound effects! Even the little details like moments of the music fading back or even muffling to really drive home those impacts and the sensation of time slowing down. It’s insane!!
@sunfire7225 Жыл бұрын
Two little details i havent seen anyone mention yet: 0:32 and 0:35 you can see scratches on the wall, suggesting that Operator has fought the box things already. 2:41 near the end of this shot you can see Stanley chest stop heaving, meaning he stopped breathing.

This made us cry, our narrator (from tsp, yes) and stanley felt so much pain watching this cause, as narrator says, “I can’t afford to lose Stanley again.” but it’s so beautiful of an animation. Thank you so much for this.

I didn't even read the descriptions on the last two animations you've done and thought "damn, this really reminds me of The Stanley Parable." In all seriousness, this is so incredibly well done. I'm once again in awe of your ability to animate the movement in battle scenes so gracefully, not to mention how pleasing the colors and general atmosphere are to look at. I'm once again shocked and impressed by how high quality your work is, you did such an incredible job!

The lore gets deeper! I would call this original since it’s deviated pretty far from canon. This is seriously some of the BEST animation content on KZbin!

I keep seeing references to being "original" and deviating from "canon" but I can't find the official franchise in the description or comments. Are these animations (which are amazing and the only reason I care about this question) based off of something else? Edit: Lol nvm found it literally in the description of Yellow Zone sorry

i’m literally on the verge of tears. in less than ten minutes of animation (between this one and yellow zone) you’ve made me care immensely about these characters. and people think animation isn’t an artistic medium. this was FANTASTIC. thank you. (side note: i haven’t played the stanley parable so i don’t quite understand some of this stuff, would someone mind explaining? is the yellow glasses guy from the first video the same as the other guy in this?)
@SupahTrunks7 Жыл бұрын
This was originally supposed to be a Stanley parable au but SADist said that it’s diverged so much that she’s making it be it’s own thing now (called “Clock Out”) so you don’t actually need to know anything about stanley parable to understand this since it won’t follow the game. And yes it’s the same guy he just doesn’t have glasses anymore bc they got broken in Yellow Zone and he was interrupted while trying to pick out a new pair in this video

I love the designs of the monsters in this where they seem to have mismatched legs, they look like they have the screens from yellow zone as their faces, as well as the camera design as one of their eyes with multiple small dots around a big dot. They also have the clock gear eyes when they are about to fire, and in one scene when it is running towards Stanley, it actually turns into the clock face for a second. 1:15 I also love how wherever they shoot it creates a glitchy hole in the ground.

I don’t know anything about this series but that sounds absolutely tantalizing
@zephronias Жыл бұрын
@@mello-by This is the second installment from SADist. The first is the 2nd latest animation on her channel and called "Yellow Zone." They're inspired by the game The Stanley Parable, which is about an narrator trying to tell a story, and the player character, Stanley, going off and doing other things, and the narrator trying to get him back on track (or getting revenge, if you ruin his story too badly). In both the game and the previous animation by SADist, the narrator isn't opposed to killing Stanley and resetting time to try and get his story going. But in this video, we see him feeling guilty about it when he thinks death is permanent.

Ahh, these animations always give me so much inspiration! I think one of the reasons I love Clock Out so much is because it contains similar elements to the Stanley Parable and Portal, yet with such an original and creative spin! One thing I've noticed is that the relationship between these two reminds me a lot of Chell and potato GLaDOS - tentative tolerance of each other's existence as they must work together to survive, before growing a lot closer and genuinely caring if the other gets hurt. I love it so much :'D

hooooooooly shit. holy shit. this may be one of the cleanest high-concept stories I've ever seen and your execution is nothing short of flawless. everything about this is mastery, you know just where to bend and break from rigidity to give an otherworldly sense of blinding fluidity to your movements, and you drop just enough information to keep us glued to the screen without ever revealing too much and detracting from the wonder of this setting.

Even the music syncs to the situation, from the stuttering in the song to the muffling within the smoke to the simple tone and speed of different parts of the song. I'm impressed one person could even do this alone.

The amount of creativity you put into these animations with a story that carries so much emotion and conflict without a single word being spoken is astounding. Your animations always seem to grow far more interstellar each one that passes by, and the quality of each grows to a point that far exceeds the previous one. All the animations I’ve seen on your channel have been incredible; and they have so much passion put into them! I look back on past animations and still feel amazed at how incredible they are and still hold up to the astonishing animations that came after them! So much growth, so much care, I’m honored to have been able to see all this. Both the old and the new are incredible, and each new animation strengthens the quality of those that came before while inspiring so much in the future. Sad-ist, you are incredibly creative; and you’ve beyond inspired me. I wish you a most fortunate future! ^-^

And the absorbing the energy from those yellow/black guys was super cool! HAHAHA SADIST YOU WONT BELIEVEE i was literally watching the first like 20 seconds of this and going "loool this is sooo stanley parable-ish.. haha imagine" AND THEN THE NARRATOR APPEARS WITH HIS YELLOW EYES AND IM LIKE "...OH". I HAD THE BIGGEST GRIN ON MY FACE and the fact that u lip synced without any actual dialogue audio to work with.. when the narrator said "Stanley!" at 2:30 without there actually being any audio it made me physically laugh (particularly because of the little joke that the narrator says Stanley's name "too much") ^v^ ALSO adapting the concept that the narrator can just reset the game whenever things don't go according to plan is so clever.. when the clock spawned in i already knew what was gonna happen and yet still smiled and applauded once it did :D dude if this is actually going to be a series i'll cry :') there's sadly not much fan creation within the fandom so what ure doing is super awesome and i appreciate it sooososo much >:) SADIST THANK UUU

You make me want to make something exactly like this except I can't because it already exists. I don't have the WORDS. Yellow Zone is awesome in a "fight scene to go with a song" kind of way (not that I'm trying to trivialize it at all its still so amazing) but there's more substance to this one. The evolution from a nebulous collection of ideas into a full-on nuanced, apocalyptic, time traveling, tragic MASTERPIECE. PLUS you showed me one of my new favorite songs on top of EVERYTHING ELSE. Amazing job, so many props to you 👏 👏👏
