Honestly a 3d view "window" for flat to vr games is one of my most anticipated normalizations of the tech. Not everything needs to be true vr to be enhavced by vr

Haven't people been doing this for years with apps like VorpX? I know I have... practically any DX11 or OpenGL game can easily be hacked to look like an interactive 3D IMAX movie. And even games that can't still feel cool to play like that, even without any stereoscopic vision at all.

Great stream. I don’t know why tech journalists who I know, know better, have not honestly answered the question “who is this for?” They say early adopters and developers but the biggest group is conspicuously absent-Enterprise. We know Apple believes this device is as big as the iPhone. The iPhone found Apple overwhelmed with requests for software and hardware developments, they created the App Store and the device transformed the industry. This version of the AVP is for developers and businesses to begin designing their entry into spatial computing. It’s about to be amazing.

Pimax presentation was good, but that music during the 3D rendered parts makes them look like a cyberpunk villain of industry going to war against the competition. lol I don't think it's going to have a good launch though. Hardware wise it is set to be a fenomenal headset, but the software part is still their Achilles' heel and by putting so much efford into modularity for expandability will make it a nightmare to consolidate a good, robust and stable software package, yet again. They have so much potention with each iteration, yet underdeliver due to unreliable software and compatibility issues. I think they should not rush things this time because their direct competitors won't launch anything either affordable or in a couple of years, so if they focus on making this product as perfect as possible (specially the software), it will sell much much more than the Crystal and age very well when the competition reach them.

VR will never go mainstream UNTIL ( and I'm hoping you'll talk about it One-day): vergence-accommodation conflict is solved. It's the elephant in the room no ones talking about. In fact it's so important and fundamental to mass VR adoption, no companies want to talk about it. Why? Because there's no fix yet for it. It's why most people can't handle VR. It's a neuroscience problem related to our focusing abilities. How we perceive and "see" the real world, is nothing like a VR display. Our brains and visual systems are thrown out of whack by current VR technology. Sadly, it means going back to the drawing board with VR displays and lenses. Meta are trying with varifocal lenses but it's a long way out. As for spatial computing.....? It won't matter until this neuroscience barrier is removed. Companies just focus on higher res displays, wider fov, etc, as that's all they have the technology to fix right now, and sell hardware. They're actually less important than the big issue mentioned above. Which means VR will not be replacing anything. Sorry guys Anyway, Elegant is not a word Pimax should EVER use to describe their hardware. Ponytail guy Josh got fired?! Oh Pimax.....😢
@tobiasjennerjahn86593 ай бұрын
I don't think the lack of varifocal displays are what's keeping vr headsets to reach mainstream adoption at all. Yes, it's an issue and I'm looking forward to the day it gets solved, but no one is saying "oh, vr is cool, but I'm not buying/using a headset until it has varifocal displays". VR isn't mainstream, because the cost/benefit calculation does not work for most people. VR is too expensive, and too cumbersome to use with too little content / applications. If people have to choose between a Quest 3 and Playstation 5, they're going to buy the playstation. And rightly so. And if you look at the steam hardware survey, 1080p monitors are still the most popular and they're paired with low-end to midrange gpu's. People are going to buy a better monitor, or a better gpu, before they spend money on a vr headset, because those things are much more versatile. Varifocal is way down on the list of issues that need to be fixed for VR to go mainstream.
@jamiesalmonsculpture85993 ай бұрын
I totally disagree. The problem I mentioned is THE barrier to mainstream adoption. You don't see it, as you're a VR veteran (if you're seeing Brad's posts). The people who aren't VR pros need this issue to be solved. That's when they put on a headset and say "it's just how my eyes and brain experience the real world ". No eye strain, nausea, and that whole "get this thing off my head" That's when VR becomes the next BIG thing . Until then it's a niche loved by the loyal fans of it only
