Awesome, I hope they are working for you. If you only have mild foot drop, you may want to consider getting out of a rigid AFO and into the next phase of your recovery where you can strengthen the muscles in your foot and ankle to get back to normal walking. In the US we have a 30-day trial of our products if you'd like to try walking with the SaeboStep. It usually provides more range of motion and easier walking ability. - Dr Scott

@@SaeboInc thank you very much for the suggestion, i need to wait 2 more years to get new braces. These seem to help, its prevented my ankles from rolling/sprains but id like to try a rigid one that goes all the way up to the knee. My current ones only go up half of my leg

Hello Dr. I passed all the test except for the heel test. What do you think? I'm fairly healthy, workout often, tennis player, and gardener. Could a brace possibly correct my foot drop?

Hi Dr. Scott. Thank you for making an awesome video. I fail tests 2 and 3. I cannot walk on the heel of my affected foot and while I am able to lift my foot off the ground, when pressure is applied against the top of my foot in test 3, my foot is unable to resist the pressure and falls back down. I am wondering if this is something you’ve experienced in a patient and if exercise will return strength to my foot and leg. Thank you for your generous time to make these videos and to answer our inquiries!

Hello Jivy. I can't give an astute medical recommendation without evaluating you in person, but if you have the ability to lift your foot, then I'd say you have a good chance for recovery. If you haven't sought professional medical assistance yet, I'd suggest doing so to get their professional guidance. Here's a link to our SaeboStep if you need assistance raising your foot during ambulation www.saebo.com/shop/saebostep/. Here's a link to my video on easy exercises for foot drop kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXarmImfgcd3rpI. Best of luck. - Dr Scott

Thanks for the video! After a harsh MS relapse about 18 months I still seem to get foot drop after walking about 3/4 of a mile. I’ve gained strength, and also tried to increase my endurance but I still can’t get past a mile without my right foot slapping all over! I have passed all of these tests as the symptoms only appear when I’ve walked too far - is there anything I can do to increase my walking distance?! I’m 31 years old with a very active 8 year old, something’s gotta give?!

Lorna, I would suggest getting yourself a SaeboStep to assist on those long walks. You could keep in your purse or wherever in case you start to experience your foot drop symptoms. I would also get yourself an e-stim machine to work on contracting and controlling the muscles that lift your foot and to go and work with a PT/OT on recovery. If you are still noticing issues, I would get evaluated and see what a good rehab specialist can do for your recovery. Best of luck! - Dr. Scott Thompson, OTD

Hello sir I have foot drop and moderate nerve damage do to a car accident. I wear a afo and it helps me to walk, but I absolutely hate it. The pain from walking in after a certain amount of time is unbearable. Plus my lower back can't take it. Can you tell me about the sabeo? My orthopedic never mentioned anything other than an afo and said I'll be in that for the rest of my life.

My easiest suggestion would be to look for a new alternative to your current AFO and also to get and use electrical stimulation regularly. I would suggest our SaeboStep AFO (an out-of-the-shoe AFO), and either our SaeboStim One or our SaeboStim Pro e-stim device. Good luck. - Dr. Scott Thompson, OTD

Ran cross country in highschool. I would have footdrop in my left foot during the latter half of the season, im guessing because I had used those muscles a lot and they got tired and weak. I did these tests now (havent run long distance consistently in a while) and i seem perfectly fine with both feet. it is ONLY after ive been running almost daily for a month or two that I have trouble keeping my left foot raised and it will slap when i run or walk. Why?

Emmett, it sounds to me like a compression issue or an overuse issue. The next time you start running a lot, I would look to see if that same symptom occurs and then go see an orthopedic and/or nerve specialist to find some answers. Good luck! - Dr. Scott Thompson, OTD

Meme, I'm a believer that more is better, but not overdoing things is also important. I would suggest getting in touch with a local OT or PT and having them give you a home exercise program would be the most beneficial for your recovery, but performing exercises 1-2x/day would be a standard suggestion. - Dr Scott

Is foot drop permanent
@SaeboInc
@SaeboInc 4 жыл бұрын
Sophia, it really depends on a lot of different factors. If you are worried about it being permanent, and you are not seeing progression in a week or two, I'd consult a health professional for an evaluation and prognosis. Good luck with your recovery! - Dr Scott
