For begginers would you reccomend her book or one of the ball books?

That's a tough one. The benefit of the Ball Book is that it includes both pressure and water bath canning. It also has more recipes for vegetables, fruit, etc. Jenny's book has more detail on the how-to of pressure canning (better than Ball, in my opinion), and her book has more variety of recipes and meals-in-jars. So it more depends on what you want out of the book. The best answer for me is both, because I use both.
