Hello there. I know this is an old video. But i would like to know if these machines have a heater. I just purchased one but fluid is not getting hot.

It holds 23 gallons, Not 34... The little bung you unscrew on the bottom is just to lower the solvent to a manageable level. the large metal one with 2 holes is how you clean it out... there are 3 tools you need to service it... A fill nozzle that screws into the filler hole on top, the spanner wrench that unscrews the large bung.. and a forked rod about 18 to 24 inches long to scrape the sludge off the bars inside the machine..WARNING! the sludge is considered Haz waste and requires a profile and a manifest to dispose of legally ( which is why you got the machine so cheap ) Its considered combustible solids.. And compliance is expensive. The following is how you service the machine... Do the steps in order to prevent an undesirable outcome.... 1. feel the small bung, Before unscrewing.... if its hot, wait for it to cool before opening. 2. lay absorbent's down in front of the machine rags will work fine. 3. Get a 5 gallon metal bucket... put absorbents in the bottom of the bucket.. again, rags will work fine. 4. unscrew the small bung, with the bucket in place to catch the solvent.... drain until its empty... If Machiine was filled to the proper level you shouldnt get anymore than a gallon.. But standby with extra buckets just in case. 5. After the solvent level has been lowered, use your spanner wrench and unscrew the Large bung... at this point, if there isnt a lip for the edge of the bucket to fit under , ( Like Emeralds system1 ) you will depend on those rags you laid down to catch what the bucket doesnt. ( I know, Its a shitty design ) 6. After the sludge has drained out, use your forked rod to scrape the bars inside the machine as best you can.try to do a good job at cleaning it out so it wont be so hard the next time..scrape out the hole and swab it out with rags... screw the big bung back on and tighten with the spanner wrench. 7.Up Top, Pull the trays, and unscrew the large aluminium filler cap.. Fill the tank until solvent just starts to piss out the little valve next to the filler.. DO NOT OVERFILL. 8. REPLACE FILLER CAP BEFORE PUSHING THE RECYCLE BUTTON. Some tips to help you: Buy a harbour freight hand vacuum pump... sometimes the plunger gets stuck, and you can get it to open by hooking up the hose and pumping it by hand. If the machine beeps its low on solvent. If it wont drain, after pushing the recycle button You can reset the machine. while you are pressing Both buttons, have someone unplug the machine and plug it back in, while you are Holding the buttons for 10 seconds after its plugged back in, then release When you drain the bottom, recycle the fluid that came out, be careful not to pour the sludge back into the basin, it will save you in Haz waste cost. Dry out the sludge to the point of clay like consistency, that will also save you in haz waste compliance.in Cleaning often will keep it working, Recycle regularly...dont interrupt the recycle period. Hope this helps.

Thank You very much for the detailed information. I just checked and now see what you mean about taking out the bigger bung using a spanner pin wrench. I will do that this week and try to make another video to help others out. As for the capacity I downloaded the system1 manual and it says 34. I started out with 10 gallons and have been adding from there 5 gallons at a time. I have 30 gallons in the machine and it has never pissed out the little valve next to the filler when I am filling it. Also it does not refill the upper tank after I hit the recycle and it drains the upper. So I'm pretty sure it does take the 34 gallons the manual says. I'm going to be getting another 5 gallon pail to add and find out. Do you have any information on a fill nozzle that screws into the filler? I have been just sticking a funnel in the fill hole and it seems to work but if there is a special screw on fill nozzle I will look into that. Thank You again for sharing this info!

@@Scottthesigncrafter We use a pump with a filler nozzle they are proprietary... Iv filled it with a funnel before its just much slower, add solvent if it starts beeping... If you over fill it, it will come out the little over flow hole to the left of the filler..again, the holding tank holds 23 gallons, the sink holds an extra 5... Overfilling will dump the excess into the distillation tank and then out the bung when you open it.... If you find the sink doesnt fill enough to activate the pump. Hold the power button in, it will shut off, press it again and hold it to kick on the pump to fill the sink, you may need to do it a couple a times.its an incremental thing.

@@craigslistrro709 I just got one of these washers and the holding tank was cut open presumably to empty it. The vacuum pump motor was seized up but I got it unstuck. Do you have any parts lists or user manuals for these machines? Thanks for all of your info. I'm going to try and repair the holding tank if I can't find a replacement.

There is a filter in the tank is probably plugged with trash restricting the solvent flow

There was a bunch of crude in the recycling tank that I used a long screwdriver and water to flush out. Now the machine is working good. Thanks

Scott, Your 3 videos on this machine have been very helpful. I’m a volunteer in the restoration department of the San Diego Air and Space Museum. We have a rented unit just like yours. It hasn’t worked for months and getting a tech to come out has been a problem. My next step will now be to download the manual like you did. Great info Sir

@Scottthesigncrafter do you have a manual for this machine?

Do you know if it has 2 heating elements? Mine doesn’t seem to get hot enough. Thanks
@Scottthesigncrafter2 жыл бұрын
I believe there is two heating elements. When I unscrew the larger cap on the front, the one with two holes in for a spanner wrench. you can see what appears to be a heating element on each side of the hole. When it is recycling, after a while you can carefully touch the front cap and feel it is really hot. As in burn your hand hot.

No, It has one that heats the bars in the distillation tank... clean out the sludge with an 18 inch piece of 1/4 inch flat metal stock about an inch wide, as best you can, put a little bend at the tip so you can scrape better. The rods may just be caked with sludge.. scrape out the tank as best you can.. wipe the threads of the opening really good so the cap screws on.. make sure you dont cross thread...
