2024 Update: I did this at the Charlotte airport 2 weeks ago. It cost $15 and had basic prep tools available (orange stick, files). They did have a fast dry top coat available outside the machine, which I used. I think my nails would have lasted longer if I hadn't spent the following 3 days doing water-based activities. Even still, they looked nice and I'm glad I tried it.

I honestly really appreciate that the people making these machines recognize how they could impact artists, and seem to emphasize working with them or complimenting their services instead of full-on replacing them. It's refreshing to see. It feels like most tech companies don't pay much attention to the existing communities their products could be impacting.

That's what they say, and maybe it's really their intentions when they design this stuff, but companies are always looking for ways to "Mcdonaldsify" themselves, and I'm sure some CEO is looking at a $10,000 machine and comparing it to a $50,000 yearly salary for a tech and saying "let's just buy the machine. We don't need to hire someone." The road to hell is paved with good intentions...

@@irinabetty1251 the nail machine doesn't replace a manicure artist at all. It can't file or shape a nail. It can't apply acrylic or gel. It's just a one stop shop for someone who needs a quick, temporary coat of paint. The eyelash extender is really a tool foe the technician. The technicians are still required to operate and maintain the machine as well as oversee the process and help out where the machine misses out. The technician was the one to choose the lash style that would work best for Safina. Maybe someday we will have technician that can do all of this but it's heartening to see that the developers aren't banking on that and are instead leaning on humans to operate and maintain.
@Ghostteethz

For the eyelash one, it really doesn’t seem like they are and that they’re just saying that they’re a tool for beauty technicians so they don’t get a lot of backlash from the community. But for the nail one while it needs some help from human’s right now, that doesn’t seem like their end goal which I think is ok. With what it seems like they’re going for now, it won’t replace nail techs or really be a tool for them and will more so just be a tool to make doing basic nail polish on natural nails more acceptable. What the machine does now and what they’re trying to make it do in the future currently are all things that most people can already do at home without a nail tech anyway.

The running speed starts slowly, but gets faster each minute after you hear this signal. [beep] A single lap should be completed each time you hear this sound. This is an honest question because Iv'e never had eyelash extensions. Does a human tech blast your eye repeatedly with UV light or is that specific to the adhesive that the robot uses?

There is one lady I’ve seen on KZbin shorts that does them really nicely but she actually matches them to compliment her clients hair color and they look so much better than the typical super fake looking ones
@xoMsMicahxo
@xoMsMicahxo Жыл бұрын
That's because the robot only did 50 lashes. There's an average of 150 lashes per eye. So it only did a 3rd of the job. As a tech, if I did that to a client it would not be okay at all. Natural lashes have a "lash life" of 4-6 weeks with an average of 3-7 lashes falling out everyday. If I was only lashing a 3rd of a client's lashes they would be looking very thinned, very very quickly. As Safiya did experience this, especially as the machine is likely choosing the most matured and longest lashes which are actually about to fall out naturally as they are at the end of their lash life.

He said how he has them in mind but I really don’t think it does. You don’t need to be a lash artist to sit behind the machine and watch it do it. The tasks there are more technology related than eyelash related. You don’t need to be good at putting on eyelash extensions to do that job. The only part a lash artist is actually needed for is the quick check afterwards which is already really quick and will likely get quicker when the robot improves. With those robots you’d only need one lash artist instead of like 10. And I’m sure most lash artists who do enjoy their job wouldn’t enjoy sitting there operating a machine instead. It really seems like it’s going to take away jobs from lash artists to me.

As someone who is interested in science and engineering, I think it’s really cool how even makeup and beauty are evolving with technology. I personally don’t think technology will ever replace the human touch- especially not in our lives- but continue being an assistant to humans. Like how the lashes are human assisted and the nails are for touchups- I think further innovation in the beauty industry will continue to be stuff like this.

I would use the clockwork robot because it's exactly what I need! I'm scared of going to a nail salon because I don't like anything happening to my cuticles. I just want nail polish and a top coat that's it. I love that the robot is fast and only $10! Here's to hoping they have some closer to where I live soon!

I actually really love the robot lash ext concept. I used to get my lashes done regularly and tbh, because I have high anxiety, I've had some difficult/bad experiences with some technicians who didn't know how to handle my anxiety. And I don't expect them to but I didn't know how else to get them done. So I love the idea that a robot can do it, a tech can stop it if it needs to, and would be much faster.

The nail polish robot is pretty genius! Imagine getting asked on a last minute date an just wanting to primp a little before you head out. It’s a pretty fun idea! The lash robot is a hard no from me though, I’m way too freaked out about things near my eyeballs and I work in liability insurance so there’s absolutely no way I could ever. Lol I’m too used to seeing what happens when things go wrong.

It's very interesting that the creator of Luum plans to partner with lash extension artists instead of replacing them! Okay it's really cool how well Cristine's business is doing. She's even beginning to partner (or test partner) with innovative businesses. That's how you stay relevant and she's doing such a great job. I'm so proud and happy for Cristine!

Trust in Jesus, Hell is real and eternal! This is what the Bible says about it.. "The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." Matt 13: 41-42 Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven "I am the way, the truth, and the life no one comes to the father but by me." John 14:6 Ask God to reveal this to you- He will! "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23 ADMIT THAT YOU'RE A SINNER. We've all broken God's laws and ten commandments.. "Thou shalt not lie, steal, covet, dishonor parents, take God's name in vain.."(Exodus 20) We do not have righteousness on our own to get to heaven, "God made him (Jesus) who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." 2 Cor. 5:21 Godly sorrow leads to genuine repentance for sinning against the righteous God and there is a change of heart, we change our mind and God changes our hearts and regenerates us from the inside out. God is deadly serious about sin, when we genuinely repent we hate sin just as God hates it, and we turn away from it. "But God commended His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us." Romans 5:8 BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR YOUR SINS, WAS BURIED, AND THAT GOD RAISED JESUS FROM THE DEAD. This is trusting with all of your heart that Jesus Christ is who he said he was. He saves us from sin and hell and brings us into a relationship with him. We become God's children. We are saved from hell, eternal death. "For whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved." Rom 10:13 CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD. Every single person who ever lived since Adam will bend their knee and confess with their mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings. Read the Bible, Walk with the Lord and give your life to Him!
