@sethrich59984 жыл бұрын
Luke kreider Well to be fair 1-4x just aren’t popular. Personally anything less than 6x just isn’t worth it. At that low of magnification you might as well go red dot and magnifier.
@skyhop4 жыл бұрын
@@sethrich5998 I love my acogs. For shooting while standing and moving, I haven't found a magnified optic I like better than the TA33. A magnified red dot is awesome, but it's also a large and heavy setup, by comparison.
@sethrich59984 жыл бұрын
Tombs Clawtooth Agree with that. The Acog and Red Dot is the other clear option for that. The 1-4x variable is simply worse than either of these options. If you’re only going up to 4x there’s no reason to give up the unlimited eyebox of a Red Dot in conjunction with a fixed power magnification either in the form of magnifier or fixed power optic like an ACOG.

Outstanding optic! Perfect in a DMR role. I got mine from vortex about 2 months ago. Mounted on in Larue mount, on a 12.5" 5.56 DMR I built using a ballistic advantage barrel, and black hills 77gr OTM. The combo is moa capable, and ive able to get repeatable hits out to 720 yds in 15 mph winds. Even out to that distance I didnt observe any significant issues relating to not having a parallax adjustment. I also shot a 14.5" DMR with viper pst gen2 3-15, and another 14.5" DMR with a Nightforce nx8 2.5-20x50 on the same day, same target, same conditions, same black hills load. The 1-10 easily kept up with those more precision dedicated optics. Round it off with the huge FOV and near aimpoint bright red dot center on 1x. Couldn't be happier.

Hey is there any chance you could do a video about backup RDS options for LPVO setups? I am curious about options. I’m thinking about using a Reptilia Mount to top mount a 509T so I can passive aim on my LPVO Guns. The other option is 45degree mounting a RDS. I’m also curious if/what benefit I might gain using a T2 as a offset over a 509T. Not a ton of really good info out there about offset RDS options. Yet it seems to be very common.

I've been waiting for this Razor. I notice you are keeping your off-axis back up optic on the rifle. Since this is a true 1x scope, is an offset optic redundant? Is the offset reflex any quicker or easier to see through in low light? Just wondering if I can get away with offset irons instead of reflex sight.
@SkintSNIPER2624 жыл бұрын
Nope. Switching to your offset optic is faster that rotating down to 1x.
@Marrs474 жыл бұрын
Couple points. It’s slow to change your magnification back down to 1. If your shooting at distance then close up, it slows you down. Flip up off axis sights take time to deploy. Red dots are faster in certain light conditions. No LPVO will give you red dot like eye box and eye relief. Is it more expensive yes. Are there performance benefits going off axis red dot vs irons? Yes, just as much going from A2 fixed sights to red dots.
@duckhunter46604 жыл бұрын
The only arguement I have had (with myself) about the offset irons over the offset red dot is debris such as snow or fogging. I know it is rare these days but if a Razor were to fog up or gunk up, I am certain an RMR would also. But I should probably just stop arguing with myself because I love the RMR option.
@OTG_Zulu4 жыл бұрын
Duck Hunter you could also go with offset Aimpoint t1/t2. Enclosed optic and they’re pretty durable. You could always treat both lenses with some anti fog. As far as getting gunked up with an canted enclosed optic you can wipe off the ocular Lens and would be using occluded Eye shooting which would be less than ideal but still easily get you on target out to 50 yards. And if you had more time you can wipe off the front lens too.
@OTG_Zulu4 жыл бұрын
Duck Hunter only thing that I personally see where irons have the advantage over canted optics is that they don’t need batteries and you’d have to try with a decent amount of effort to break them. Optics are just inherently more susceptible to failure. That being said it’s not even a question of picking irons or an optic if it were going directly on your weapon as your primary aiming tool. So I personally feel the same mentality should apply to canted sights as well.
@Vmole14 жыл бұрын
I think a more informative assessment, due to the practical choices available, would be if you were to take the extra 2x magnification out of the equation, would you consider this the best overall 1-8x optic available?

Question is... will you now forgo the offset red dot? If not, I don't really see the need for a lpvo when there is the red dot present.
@duckhunter46604 жыл бұрын
The red dot is for a backup and for close targets if you are caught off guard on 10x. It is faster to transition to the dot than to dial your optic back to 1x and fire.
@randolphtiangco62394 жыл бұрын
@@duckhunter4660 So, what's the use of the 1x on the lpvo if the red dot is faster? Why not just get a scope with a higher magnfication?
@duckhunter46604 жыл бұрын
@@randolphtiangco6239 the offset red dot is merely an "oh shit option" as in, I used my optic on 10x last time and forgot to put it on 1x and I need 1x now, but don't have time to dial down. Or, my optic is broken, fogged or full of debris, I need a backup right now and dont have time to clean it out so I use the red dot. Not sure if you have used a 10x optic before but if you are dialed up to 10x and a target is 10 feet away, all you can see is a big blob of whatever color the target is. You cant pick a spot and make an accurate hit very easily or quickly. Does that make sense? Murphy's law will always apply in real world use so for a gun you depend your life or the life of others on, a backup is a good way to go. I personally run backup offset irons on my personal guns. On my patrol rifle I run an LPVO with in line flip up irons because our policy wont allow the offsets (so I would have to remove my optic to use my backuos, makes no sense but that is how policies are these days) A few weeks back we tracked an armed fugitive to a vacant building and contained it. As I was sitting peremeter it began to snow. My optic filled up with snow. Luckily I noticed it and cleared it but if I would have needed it quickly, I could have been screwed. This is why I like backup offsets. I actually prefer the irons as they dont have a fogging issue in that odd instance all the elements align in shitty perfect order and fog both your LPVO and red dot. But that is just my way. Doesn't mean it is for everyone.
