There were only two brilliant pub acts in the seventies. One was Dr Feelgood and the other was SAHB. I was so mesmerised after an Alex Harvey concert that I had to go see him the following night. No live act has ever matched the Sensational Alex Harvey Band. He was out of this world.

First saw them in March 1973 when nobody- at least out in the sticks-knew much about them . The stage was done up like an Edwardian parlour and Alex came on dressed up in a posh person’s smoking jacket and other era props and everyone thought what the heck is this, and then they started playing and oh my gosh it was a mind blowing moment and they were absolutely amazing and blew the crowd away and they were the support group. Once seen never forgotten.

They were actually really popular in some areas in the USA. Allentown ,Erie & Reading PA . Cleveland & Cincinnatti Ohio. Many of the smaller markets in the midwest & south. They did it the old fashioned way. They played everywhere in the US not just the major cities. They used to be on multiple band bills as a 2nd or 3rd place band. In the smaller cities they became headliners. I've seen SAHB blow away many top billed bands like Alice Cooper & Black Sabbath. The major city radio stations never really gave them their due. Audiences loved them!

Saw them at a windswept festival in the early 70's I remember them singing the Osmond's song- Crazy Horses. A great band. I love these videos on KZbin it makes you realise what a great time it was to be alive

SAHB at the Rainbow I watch weekly. Introduced by Tommy Vance. Best stage show ever.

There was a Clockwork Orange style, something anarchic about SAHB and Zal was so good.

Mix Bowie with slade and a few others and this is what you get. I saw them in mid seventies. Now here they are getting a second chance at stardom. Better throw Spinal Tap in the mix too.
