They absolutely have to go a bit further north on the island. The walrus colonies at Forlandet are epic. Nearby the narrowest part of the sound. Ny Ålesund is worth a visit, as the most northerly permanent settlement in the world, and just a wee bit further up, actually reaching 80 degrees north on sail and electric alone is quite a milestone! A metal bucket with a valve on the bottom is my best friend, I fill it up, stick it on the stove for 5 minutes, hang it on the bathroom ceiling, turn on the valve and it's a 5 minute hands free hot shower. I use one in the bush in winter, my camper van, and my sailboat. My sailboat one is "very technical" version with a thermometer wired inside for the perfect temp haha. Any valve works as long as it's metal and has a backing nut so you can seal it onto a hole in the bucket. A silicone washer makes the seal and I've never had any problem with it melting because nothing gets super hot while it's full of water. You can use galvanized bucket as well as nothing gets hot enough to release anything toxic. But stainless is more classy unit. Good luck finding a stainless bucket in Europe though.

The winds in enclosed valleys and fjords can be all over the place. I was sailing in the Marlborough Sounds at the top of the South Island in New Zealand a few years ago and had my spinnaker up sailing nicely downwind then went around a headland and the wind went around on to the beam and next thing my yacht was lying on its side. I absolutely love these videos about REAL sailing. The scenery is stunningly beautiful, because it is barren and kind of showing the bare bones of our planet. I was wondering how the regen was working and as usual you two don't leave out any steps to true sailing. It must be the Canuck in me that would rather see the scenery and experience the type of sailing you two seem to revel and thrive in. I know it's not as pleasant all the time as your videos show but anything worth doing and experiencing takes a bit of sacrifice and some stress. You two have each other to lean on when something seems insurmountable, and that kind of spirit and fortitude is a rarity in this world. You should both be proud of what you are able to accomplish and show the world. The conditions of those ever changing winds in and around the fiords would making a great training ground for new sailors, as long as they know their depth and had the room to navigate safely. After this experience you two would be able to navigate almost any conditions with your duet of shrugging and saying, let's adapt to it and make it work. You've both made sailing UMA a work of art.

A wet rag dipped in the ash in your wood stove is great for cleaning off the glass. Give it a try. Keep warm keep safe and have fun.

How cold is it? It doesn't seem so cold looking at what you are wearing. The scenery is spectacular and love the music 🎶

I love that it is so quiet when you are motoring! The grueling day of winds changing reminded me of a day of racing on Lake Michigan (the Great Lakes, USA), only add in a ton of sail changes! Anyway, LOVE your channel. Thanks so much for taking us along on your amazing adventures!.

Enjoyed the video...was a time I sailed on the ocean blue...was on an aircraft carrier...in 1987 we went up into one the fjords in November...it was cold outside... and coming back into the N.Atlantic we hit a bad storm...we were hitting waves close to 100ft...we had "green water" over our bow...at night and we felt every wave we hit...be careful up there...
