Great video!! Really enjoyed the sailing and music, didn't want it to end. The man overboard videos were funny (was that your mom in one of those videos?) HA HA

I am in Beaumont and am looking at doing what ya'll are doing in the next five to 10 years. I am thinking of getting a boat in the next couple of years and doing live aboard here at the Beaumont marina until I am ready to retire. Who are you using for your sailing lessons? I definitely need lessons first because I have never sailed! BTW.. I love your videos!

We are using Windward Seaventures here in Kemah. They have great captains and really good boats if you want to learn on their sailboats. BTW...thanks a million for the great feedback!

Kinda stumbled upon you guys- I live aboard & solo a C42MK2...we’ve communicated prior. Love your channel! They’re sweethearts to sail!

Hey WineRob! It's so good that we've connected on here...looking forward to watching some of your C42 footage!

Looks like the wind died down fast. Was that the same trip or did you get your footage confused?
@TheFosterJourney4 жыл бұрын
Yeah! We were expecting to do some high wind 20+ knots practice, but after getting away from the shore breeze, it was just good easy wind.

A dock buddy just told me about your videos today, have the same boat (6 years) in the same same marina dock 11, any questions you have about the 387 feel free to ask. We love our 387, been through a lot with her, sails best at 15 to 20kts. Keep up the good work with your videos.

Awesome man, I'd (Matt) love to hear some of your experiences...and, we'd love to increase our skills in the 15-20kt range. I'll try to find you on Facebook.

Thanks, man! It's no joke, there are a lot of things happening at once on those first few trips!

Hey Matt, quick question: what’s your “go to” lens when you film and do you have a variable ND filter?
@TheFosterJourney2 жыл бұрын
16mm Sigma for indoors or talking stuff. 50mm Sony for more filmic shots. BUT, I'm Saving up for the Sony G 24-70mm 🎥💯 That'll be sweet!

No mainsail practice?
@TheFosterJourney4 жыл бұрын
Apart from jamming in the in-mast furler, the mainsail is a breeze! We've learned to reef her a bit earlier (around 15-18 knots) to keep the weather helm at bay. What we're still unsure of is where to put the mainsail in a broad reach or run...any tips for us?
@SailingYachtSaltyLass4 жыл бұрын
@@TheFosterJourney - we have slab reefing, but we did spend 10 days on a boat with in-mast furling and we were told to keep the furling line under tension when winding the sail back in so that it laid flat with no wrinkles or bulges. As for sails in general... regardless of the wind direction, try and have the leading edge of the sail pointing into the wind and then adjust the sails so that the teltales fly. I know you are in the US, but there is a really good book by the RYA in the UK that costs £12 and if you google "Amazon RYA Sail Trim for Cruisers" it will teach you everything you need to know about setting your sails. It is a really easy read and well illustrated.
