This might be my favorite video of yours - or even favorite of all videos I've watched recently. You mention all those details so tenderly and beautifully which together form life. The happy details like watching the fish in the water and doing a backflip into the ocean, but also the melancholy moments and the moments when you need time for yourself. I felt very seen and emerged - these could have been my own emotions. Plus, I, too, visited Mallorca this summer. It was so cool to see Palma and Port de Soller again through the eyes of another person! Thank you for sharing this wonderfully curated deep dive in how you see the world.

Hi Leah! It took me 3 days to watch it because I really wanted to truly savor all the moments you lived on the boat with bits of reflection, thinking how would i survive such experience. Your journey grew on me (idk if this is the right term)as i was watching it and I could feel the sadness or strange feeling that can come up after days of body fatigue, constant view variation and just by also being completely separated from the land which for all your life was always beneath your feet. I'm so proud of you and happy for the lessons you got and shared with us from them and the boat and the sea. Thank you for taking the time and energy to film

This is the most minor part of the video but "I would throw up so many more times for this," was completely life altering - I've been dealing with some pretty bad emetophobia for the last few months and the idea that someone could be ok with that feeling in order to see and do beautiful things? I currently can't fathom it but you're giving me hope to be "brave" and keep living me life even in the unlikely event I get sick during it. Thank you :)

(I’m on my period right now too lol) Thank you for sharing with us this beautiful experience.

It was a lovely story.. I loved your analysis of energy exchanges, emotions gathering and giggled from your accents show. I was sorry to hear that your body has gone through some misery during this trip, but I can relate, because I've gone through something very similar about 20 years ago, when I've just gotten into sailing. For that reason, perhaps in order to encourage your to give sailing more chances than just this one, I've decided to share with you what I've discovered through my sea sickness personal research, where I believe that some of it applies to most of us. I've fallen in love with sailing and have started my journey in it by helping in delivering sailboats as a crew. I did many of them overtime, where in total it can be summed up it 1-day, 3-days, 5-7 days, 18 -days - out on the water. I've learned that everybody gets sea sick at first. Then, everybody has hi/her own adjustment period, usually it is 2-4 continuous days on the water, where a day at anchor counts as a day on the water, with a light veritable/fruit or oatmeal diet. If, when like in your case, where you have had only 1 to 2 days on the water and then went ashore, you've actually broke your 2-4 day adjustment period that is actually needed to pass. The moment you've ended up on land, your body takes it as a signal of being back to normal and to stop adjusting to the sea motion conditions. So, your port hopping got your body confused and it was starting a new adjustment sequence every time you'd move to your next leg. So, here is what I do on my boat when new sailors are on board for a trip. If time allows, we spent first 2-4 days on anchor, allowing everyone to get through their sea sickness curve. If the trip is more than 3 days, than I explain that they should eat light,, dress warm to counter the sea sickness chills, spend as much time as possible in the cockpit, do not take watches if you're not feeling normal, sleep right in the cockpit as much us you can, do not fight any of your physical symptoms, do not take any medicine or drugs in order to "help". Why? I've done that research on myself with pills, patches and nothing. Apparently, drugs just fool our body for about 2 days, that it's - Okay. The moment it wears out, you're landing yourself on a day 1 of the 2-4 days adjustment period. So, do not take anything and just ride it out. The more of the 3 and more days of sailing you'll do - the shorter and lighter the adjustment period will become, until it becomes so mild that you stop noticing it. Do not be shy to communicate your needs with the captain, as we are very human and like to see people enjoy their time on board. Fair winds ⛵
