You two are living your dream. Not saddled to a house payment and all the expense of it. If I was a young person like you this would be the life.

Excellent post guys i lived aboard my 36ft tri with my wife and two kids for 2 and a half years and like you we stayed in a small marina with about 8 other liveaboards it was great we treated each other like humans are suppose too we had BBQ,s in summer most friday nights and we were there for each other it was a special time of our life we still have the boat but are now housebound but we will get back out there, enjoy yourselves fair wind & smooth seas regards Andy

You two are great ! I to am a live a board for over 12 years and have positively no desire to move back a shore. This live style isn't for everyone and that's what I really love about it. Security is great at our marina and we have less theft problems than most upscale sub divisions. Everyone knows each other and keeps an eye on your things when your're away. My boat is 30 years old but in excellent condition with marine air conditioning and heating which easily keeps the boat comfortable on the hottest and coldest days.Dry dock is not required where I'm located during winter months. My waterfront property is 20,000 acres that in just a few minutes I can untie ropes, disconnect shore power and go see any part of it I wish. I'm subject to cruise at any time day or night year round. No red lights. No traffic jams. Can cruise to the Gulf of Mexico then thousands of miles in any direction.

This is one of the best "live aboard" videos I have ever seen. It's great to see young couples really do what the want to do and take the leap to move in to a boat. Congrats with your choice of lifestyle! When I retire, I will do the same! Fair winds! :-)

Great to share your dreams and happiness with us. May you fulfill your dreams togather, wow what an adventure you will be able to tell to your grandchildren. Portland is a great town as I worked up that way on a ship salvage job not too long ago, and the people there were some of the friendliest I have ever met. I would love to one day sail there. thanks again.

We have a 100 watt solar panel that we got last winter and installed before our trip... soooo worth the investment! We love that solar panel! We never ran the engine exclusively for power reasons, and didn't plug in from June until October! Awesome!

Hey! We're on a dock so we just fill the tanks up with a hose. In the winter time we have to run a longer hose since they shut off dockside water, but it's pretty much the same process. Fill up the tanks, use the water, fill them up again. Etc. We don't have a water maker (desalinator) on board, but we do carry 100 gallons at a time. That usually is enough for about a month of living in between filling our tanks!

Great vid you two! My S.O. (significant other) and I have been looking toward this lifestyle for a year or so now. We bought a boat in Kemah Texas a half a year ago. Needs some assembly, but she's a beaut! We are taking her "hime" to Seattle WA here soon. I'm leaving the 26th and coming back the 2nd of August. You are only in Oregon, so maybe you could come up here and we can hang out while I'm putting her back together! Fun times!

Without sounding patronizing, I hope, I have to say you are a very personable couple. It would be great to hear about your life aboard years from now from Puerto Rico or a hundred other places you could be. I lived aboard a sailboat (with my dog) for 5 years around the San Juan and Gulf Islands (no worries about shrinkwrap)! With the right attitude, which you obviously have, it can be a rewarding lifestyle. Good luck!

You might have the perfect life. I would suggest maybe staying put for a bit, work hard and pay off the loans. Then you could do whatever where ever. And Puerto Rico is really cheap to live, so if you headed there debt free I can't imagine a better start to a life long adventure.

Great interview. Did Sophi and Travis make their trip to PEI?
@sophiswaim114311 жыл бұрын
Hahah!! Rich kids. I wish! We love sailing and have given up pretty much everything in order to do so. We were super lucky and did borrow $10k from my parents and had the boat's previous owner help finance us and are working our butts off to pay everyone off. It's not something we do to be "cool," we live on the boat because we want to be able to go sailing and we couldn't afford it any other way.. Thanks for the comment, though!
