You guys bring a new and welcome dimension to KZbin sailing channels - down to earth, humble ( in a good way!), radiating knowledge, self-direction, goodwill and inner strength, practicality, and a small ecological footprint. And oh-so-down-to earth! Well done, please keep posting your videos. You give us 'dreamers' who are preparing our boats to voyage something to keep us going until we can launch!

Thank you so very much my Dears for ..... everything. The melancholy is overwhelming and gave me a tearful joy of the being in love feeling. Ending up in Mahon was magic. I visited this little capital / founding place of Mahonaise (Majonaise) and ate a local lobster with this home made delicacy. Many years ago I visited Menorca on the two-masted sailing /Fishing Lugger Sirius.

Your violin brings a dimension to this KZbin channel that is unlike any other channel of this genre. I'm very impressed. YOU have got some chops sweetheart. I'd love to have you play some of the old Irish standards like Lonesome Boatman, Tell Me Ma, or Waxie's Dardle. That would be a lot of fun to listen to. That is IF you take requests. You both are doing a fine job. Take care. sincerely, Dean O. :-I

Hei Maya and Aladdino. It´s late at night here in Norway. Am in bed continuing watching your channel. Started with episode one, with rebuilding your boat, and at the same time looking at your adventures, I think about how good it will be to make our own boat ready for the summer season. Your videos are an inspiration to me. The music you make is just wonderful :) The way you play reaches my soul, playing passionate and with power. Thanks for showing "Don Casey´s" manual. Will order it asap. Best regards, Roy

Your voice is just wonderfully relaxing, you could make marvellous meditation recordings. I too have tried to meditate and quite got into it, unfortunately I did not keep it up so have lost the flow. Maybe small boats are not quite big enough to handle long crossings certainly not very comfortable as you show on the video. I watch a few couples doing this and they all struggle with the open ocean travels, no idea what the answer is in order to get to new places though. I do wonder how safe a life choice it is as the oceans are mighty and man is no match. Keep safe, love the videos and the music, you are so talented with the violin xxx love from the UK

Just to concentrate on the water is a meditation on its own. You are right, it helps on a passage of this length but it also helps in daily life to stay centered. Happy sailing. Happy Birthday Aladino. Have the best day ever.

I'm here in NZ and have checked out the area you're sailing in at the time you made this video and I think you're both amazing to tackle journeys like this in such a small boat but you obviously take all the precautions necessary for a safe passage. I wish you well for all your travels and will continue to follow you 🤗🙋♂️🇳🇿

Tough passage . You really captured the wave which is normally very hard to do. It was defiantly kind of ugly Sea state. Once again the yacht performed well. I hope you took care to not get dehydrated from the 'mal de mare' it's easily done, then the headaches start .... beautiful music. Oh if you get over towards Alicanti check out a small island 11 miles due south, Tabaca , I was there in ...eh 1967? It looks the same from google earth.... cheers Warren.

Great realistic portrayal, and yes every muscle is sore. Meditation is a wonderful thing to do while underway on watch, just moving with the motion of the boat does it, AND it does provide an aura of protection to the boat and ocean around you, although many think that is hogwash.

Maya, Sailing Uma uses a wind-vane and Dan is really intuitive. Perhaps you could reach out to him about the ins and outs of the wind-vane
@reynaldneron90126 жыл бұрын
Regarding the wind vane, if you lead the lines perpendicular to the tiller, it will work a bit better... Sea sickness can be managed, don't forget the 4 Fs rule: Faim, froid, frousse and fatigue (or hunger, cold, scared, and tiredness) which will trigger seasickness... Manage those 4 factors and you will be fine. My bet is, on this passage, you were a bit nervous about it... so you got seasick... and once affected, take a bottle of coke, get rid of the gas, and slowly sip some of it (but not a lot and it does not work with pepsi). Also, drive the boat, that will take your mind off the seasickness... Thank you for your videos..

Wind vane is easy.. if you RTFM .if you have one ...but with some violin witch craft .. it’s sorted .. well done The vane will give you a easy ride .. better than self steering or a regular autopilot..but the wind must come from the sides.. so sharp at the wind or straight form the behind is difficult for the vane.

The audio track for the violin music is so clear. Maybe I just lack imagination but how does it come through so clear without the background noise? It seems to be perfectly in sync with the video so I find it difficult to believe that you're just merging a separate audio track with the video. Maybe that's not as hard as I imagine. In any case, I really enjoy the music and appreciate the skill you demonstrate.
@SailingMagicCarpet6 жыл бұрын
I recorded the audio with my phone which I tucked into my shirt, thus protecting it from wind noise. Then I uploaded the audio into a program called Logic, where I added reverb, EQ, and compressor. Those three things make a huge difference to sound quality, and take it from an ‘iphone recording’ to something which sounds semi professional. Then I just sync up the audio with the video. If you listen closely you can still hear the waves in the background, but they aren’t distracting. Basically it all comes down to mic placement and hoe you mix the sound afterwards. Thanks for watching!
