If you could, how long did it take Alidino to cover those through holes and the holes he cut into the bulkheads with a fresh coat of paint? I'm going to guess, not very long! Really great to hear the palpable excitement and lightness in your voices. Sounds like the vision is being restored. What is amazing is the discipline to keep doing everything as perfectly as possible throughout the dark days between the excitement of purchase and the excitement of seeing the end in sight 🎉 One more thing, I am no stranger to varnishing , but the finish you guys get, seemingly blemish and dust free is staggering. So many congrats in those wonderful floor boards- wow I am jealous!!!! 👌

You might want to consider applying UHMW-PE tape to your anchor chain slide. It would greatly reduce friction allowing the chain to slide more easily, is very abrasion resistant too and of course can be sacrificial (removed and replaced more easily than paint). Just thought I would mention it as not many are aware of the material. Tape comes in many widths I use some 6” wide to provide chafe resistance.
@Chr.U.Cas1622Ай бұрын
👍👌👏 2) Not much more to say than: Extremely meticulous work gives extremely good results! Congratulations 🎉 to both of you. The more finished gorgeous wood I see on and especially in this boat, the more I like it. You two are really going above and beyond. By the way: I can't get my head around tge fact how much better the floor boards are looking with this satin varnish instead of glossy. Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and especially health to both of you. Post Scriptum: Oh WOW! That's what I call a faucet!

It’s hard to image the sacrifice and hard work that you’ve done to create your new home and vessel for exploration. I get discouraged when I lose a weekend to boat work instead of being out on the water. But I’m not going to be living in it one day (just a fishing boat). I work a day job so weekends are sacred…. I hope that you’ll look back and know that all the hard work and sacrifice was worth it 👍🏼

An anchoring story: 'Skipper, it's freshening.' 'Yeah, go pay out some more anchor chain!' 'All right skipper; 40 fathoms, 50, 60, last shackle.'😹 Earnestly however, do connect the anchor chain to the boat! However, use a short rope end which you can cut, should you ever need to cut loose from your anchor in a hurry!

Here is a small tip for the screws on the stem protection. Please ensure that the ones near the water line have plenty of fiberglass on the inside. I almost sank my boat after buying a used boat, and the previous owner had lost the bolt and painted over the tiny hole. One night, after sleeping in the v-berth, water was seeping in at the bow. Luckily, the boat had a half height bulkhead aft of the leak, and it was full of water. With this tiny hole, the boat may have sunk if I was not onboard. Cheers.

I love the interior varnishing, I hope it helps you keep appreciating the work you have done. I am curious how well sealed the anchor chain will be at deck level, it's important to be able to stop greenwater from getting in, perhaps you will seal the top of the chain locker and mostley use inspection hatches. Don't forget that chain accumulates mud, sand and rust, however much you try to clean it. Check your drain & pump(s) allow for those inevitable factors! I would protect the floor with a soft material covered with plywood, it would make it easier to work on the boat.

It's fun to reflect back to the days when you basically had an empty shell and were discussing layout options, especially for the head. And now you have a space quickly coming together that's"surprisingly large" and of course beautiful. One question - what's going on with the cracking in the chain locker next to the drain? It looks like extra resin that shrunk and can be easily repaired but it looks so out of place on this jewel of a boat that I had to ask.
