So good,I think I would fry my brain trying to learn all of this.I guess I would pick it up eventually.Best wishes 🙂

You’d definitely pick it up it seems complex but it’s not 👍

Really good overview. I agree with you concerning gated systems. That is a manufacturer trying to harvest as much money as they can... Open CPN will dominate in time because cruisers know what works... On the ocean, marketing and brand management means nothing... Experience and word of mouth is the best marketing...

Man, the last time I went sailing there were two apps Navionics and one other I can't recall, but WOW, so many choices. And the power management, super cool.

Thanks 🙏 yeah it’s crazy how fast things are changing and how many options there is out there now for vessel management and navigation.

Jason, I could use your help downloading grib files on Weather 4D. What is the best way to communicate? Awesome video. There are a lot of people sailing with unlimited budgets and all the latest gear. I respect the miles you guys have sailed and the quality of your seamanship on what appears to be a much more reasonable budget. Thanks for sharing your adventure.

This is fantastic!!! thank you. I will be studying this for quite a while-- just downloaded isailor, they charged $19.99 for the charts which seems to be a subscription but I'll go in and turn it off so that I don't get the updates which is what I think the fee is for. I also worked on a whole of the privacy settings in there as well... Phil
@TrimaranSpiritXL9 күн бұрын
Awesome Phil! Yes they automatically put you into the yearly chart update subscription but it’s easy to turn it off from under subscriptions. Good to see you also sorted out the privacy settings!!

You were doing great until the anchor alarm. However, you did read the room correctly and only one eye closed. You did a great job of giving an enjoyable tour while keeping it moving. Cheers!

Thanks we’re glad to hear that only one eye closed 😊 nothing worse than putting people to sleep! 😴

Do you have isailor connect to the autopilot and working? Have all but cannot get the autopilot working.
@TrimaranSpiritXL6 күн бұрын
No we don’t use that function and I believe it doesn’t work with B&G at present??

You were talking about using earbuds. I wish I could but I have to use clunky headphones as my ears ache if I stick anything in them.

That’s ok headphones are also good it’s whatever works for you. 👍

There's a story about a motorcyclist in South Africa that had an accident with that same Garmin. Hit SOS and only received a message the next day in hospital from the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) saying they couldn't help, and no one from Garmin support replied for two months. Not good. I know the GGR require the YB3 Handheld Tracker which also uses the Iridium network.
@TrimaranSpiritXL9 күн бұрын
Yeah very good point and that’s the issue when relying upon buttons only to send distress signals. I’d not recommend relying solely upon the SOS function either the bit I like is the two way communication you have, the preset messages you can send and the constant tracking and the (up to) 10 day battery life!! which are all great attributes when it comes to being found at sea
