Help me choose the next passage. In a weeks time I will be in a position to choose either recreating Wave Rover 1 voyage to Azores/Canaries/Caribbean or Sail down the East Coast then onto the Caribbean. Let me know what you think.

Let me quote myself from back when you announced your intention to build her: "Can't go wrong with a junk rig!" Thank you for the privilege and pleasure of us getting to spectate this journey. Looking forward for the next stage of the adventure! Frankly speaking I don't know anything about sailing other than what I've read or have been shown just like this, but this brought back to me something that I seem to recall _Practical junk rig_ having said about adjustments to euphroes (potentially automatic, sometimes helped along) in different conditions of wind and rig. Please feel free to show in howevermuch detail you wish to show how it all performs, as you discover the nature of your setup. Fair winds and following seas!

I have just seen all your videos with the Contessa and with Wave Rover ll. I must say that it seems that you know everything about boat building. But you are also clever enough to understand your limit taking help with the keels and the pulpits. Thats a good thing to understand once limit. I´ve seen your two passages of the north Atlantic and I´m sure that your circumnavigation will be safe for you, although it is a new boat. I am waiting very much for that new long trip to begin. Thank you for your videos and thanks also to mrs Rover.

Once you get her fully loaded I’m looking forward to see her in action. My concern Alan is tackling the high seas in a flat bottom boat with no cockpit. The junk rig will add additional safety so you won’t have to go forward to tend to headsails but I’d be wearing your safety harness at all times. I’d hate to see you get tossed around. But when the seas get rough you can go below. The best of luck to you Alan, and for God’s sake be careful!

Nice design, glad you are happy with the junk rig. I understand the idea and concept of your companion way hatch, but at sea I can see broken fingers as the hatch takes a whack on them. I built a Core Sound 20.3 with a similar hatch and it would bit until I added some dogs to retain it open. Enjoy your new boat!

WAHOO! What an incredible delight to see Wave Rover under sail! Absolutely gorgeous and such an exciting sail and rigging plan. Time will give you insights into what she needs for efficient operation, but your decisions about cabin and deck layout are truly inspired. That little Sail Pro motor was such a good decision. Looks like about 1/3 throttle moves her at hull speed and that thing just sips gas. The simplicity and sea worthiness of your rig reminds me of Joshua Slocum's Spray. Here's to you making history, Alan!

At the beginning of the episode, I was a bit concerned about those wooden blocks in the lines of the junk rig. My thought was: “are those going to sucker-punch him mid passage?!?” Surely enough, when you were deploying the sail at the dock, those things hit you in the face. Are there less bulky / safer alternatives?

Wow. I brought a rusty 8.5 meter yacht on hardstand {have no sailing experience} but I found the main rusted areas were on the outer edges of walk way around cabin. Because its so small and I want it as live aboard {depression not included} I decided to cut the cabin off / split down the centre line of cabin {in 1/4 sections so I can handle the weight by myself} then bring the cabin sides out to side of hull {and complete gap in roof} - theory being the rust issue had reason to be on outer edge so no point repeating that + cabin out to hull sides means "more internal space" and I figured "more roof space - and simply walk on the roof" Im a newbie - so its good to see someone experienced do the same thing, which means my concept is proven correct in your design {just seen yr show 1st time tonight}. Seeing you also have no cock pit {I was making mine like launch so I can move around / work on engine etc no problems} seeing how nifty and nimble your boat is - Id name it "The Smartass" because thats what it looks like - compared to all the conventional big dummies following like sheep in their design. I dont like giving up. But someone put me onto another idea, this is an 11.6 meter steel boat plainer hull, much wider. It has no keel but would be good for shallow water and rivers. Want to bring cabin to bowl tip and angle back like hull. And have cabin to outer hull edges tappered on good angle toward centre for wind dynamics and quicker recovery if capsized by large wave. Thinking of cutting two holes in hull centre line - with raised edges well above the water line giving open access to the sea {and view}, 1st for the anchor to raise and lower from within, and one for the keel, idea to have solid steel keel that you can pull out and have as work bench then move / twist & lower into water when you want to sail. Thats one concept. So if anchor lowered / raised within hull... Im wondering about the hole in the hull in terms of efficiency - water going under bowl then rolling back up under gap for anchor / dont want it hitting the other aft end as it would be drag so figure to make back end of gap at hull "raised to catch water and tapper down to main hull level." I like the twin fins for beaching an mainantence as marinas hardstand fees redicualously expensive. But have another idea. What about a system where you have four rudders like wheels on car that you can steer {system to figure out} and flat feet on those ruders so you can beach it willy-nilly. {but thinking something / fittings welded outside edge of hull so they can be removed from the water when not needed } Ive also a sailing idea as I dont like booms. Thinking of cutting mast in half - put on frame that pivots in centre with masts mounted on outer edges and simply twist the structure to catch the wind. I figure its better as you have less boom requirment blocking your way and its a balanced system as boom system is not balance - its force at one end. Also to hinge the mast super structure to lower or raise - and be able to twist it to be able to catch the wind for the wind to lift it up. And pull the sail up / down like blinds. All ideas and because Im a newbie and dont like the "commercial entrapment." What do you think - especially my anchor idea. The new boat project Im seriously close to going {but juggling problems like nobodies business} is to get the other boat - and chop my boat up for the steel to do the other boat. Your informed knowledge would be appreciated...

Wow the boat just gets more and more amazing ❤ if I may ask for something please can you in future make a special video on the sails performance? Speed based on wind directions, more of angle of windward etc. with measurements for those of us who want more technical details.
