I finally get it that I don't need to wait and wait for the "shift, awakening, clarity, Self, That, 2nd coming of Jesus, Heaven, etc" Whew, I just am and this just is - and it's OK just as it is - WHEW! Thanks everyone who already know this simple fact.......love you!

This recording is a precious gem, seeing Sailor Bob and John Wheeler together. John offers some of the best, clearest writings on Non-Duality and Sailor Bob, a direct 'disciple' of Sri Nisargadatta, is one of the best, clearest teachers of Reality/Advaita. I also highly recommend John's 9/4/2005 radio interview with Allin Taylor - it is magical.

+Brad Stephan do you know if John Wheeler is still teaching?
@bradstephan78868 жыл бұрын
+John Adams I don't know. His website has been shut down, so I presume not. It's too bad, but I hope all is well with him.

+John Adams Actually his website is still there, I just checked - with meeting times and dates listed, so I guess he's alive and well!

@stephaniemartin17598 жыл бұрын
+Brad Stephan - As they noted above, it's www.sailorbobadamson.com/ Also lots of free videos to watch on it, too, at www.sailorbobadamson.com/videos - a lot are already on youtube, but I'm not sure if they all are... or at least it's easier to find them all in a "clump" this way. Onward! Other good John Wheeler stuff on youtube, too, but you probably already know that

Great...and I can whittle it down to just a few important moments, when seeing made the biggest impact for me....when John summarises where all the pointers are pointing to: "The fact of your being". John's pointing is the simplest I have ever come upon...pointing always to the same unavoidable fact of experience that is here always and you can never even for one moment leave....your existence or awareness. Eternal fulfilment for all time lies there, and theres is nothing beyond it to get. :)

At around 27 mins into the video the discussion is about the notion of being a 'sinner.' The sin - if that word makes sense at all - consists in maintaining the concept of being a separte individual. By emphasizing that we are sinners the belief in the ego-concept is actuallally reinforced. In the German language, 'suende' (sin) and 'sondern' (separation) have the same origin. It is amazing that in the name of religion such a notion is promoted.

I could be able to experience what you're reporting every moment, just because I've ever had no "tremendous" experience to be attached to. You're putting memory in front of your permanent state in this. Your memory tells you a story of great experiences, but all this is very subtle. And when you notice this subtlety, it is not subtle, but the only thing, neither subtle nor non-subtle. This is not experience, it's beyond experience.

Richard mentioned about those people who talk of awakenings. I'm one of them. I have "experienced" higher states of consciousness (no other way to say it.) Once in 1991 through a mirror meditation (suggested by Ram Dass.) My physical body was saturated in Bliss. And I recognized that state totally. Every cell of my body was Love. Then last year a different situation which may be more like what you're talking about. I was in the body, my senses were in tact, but I was apart from them.

Even when a dharma talk of the highest order is presented, with it being on KZbin there will be the good ole “pearls before swine” phenomenon. Could be why monasteries didn’t make it easy for aspirants to gain access. Why throw seeds on sterile ground.

Well, yeah the sages do say, "...you are what you seek" but then they turn around and give you fancy yogic practices which in essence completely contradicts what they just said! I can think of a few "sages" of today who do just that! Thank you though this is probably the best pointing out that I've heard in a long time.

"A concept of my self is part of my definition, part of what I am. Humans are creatures that have selves of which they are aware. Humans are self-aware; they are conscious. From here, we can leap to the conjecture that concepts that are true of themselves are conscious beings. Therefore, existence, being true of itself, is a conscious being. It may look to us like a mere idea, concept, or property, but it is more than that. It is a being, and it is conscious, just as I am a conscious being.."

1:11:54 About the pointers as concepts, I remembered a joke I had heard a long time ago. The teacher points a finger at the moon, some people look at the finger and criticize it, say it is short, stubby and bent. Others take the finger and put it in their eyes and blind themselves. Only a few actually look at the moon.

Some New Age people suggested that I had experienced self as All and Nothing. The second one was like a feeling of invincibility, fearlessness because you know the world isn't real.. but there's no God in it. :( The prior experience was as if God walked through me.. I could sit still like that forever (my body could not handle it for long.) Anyway the bad part is that I am not happy because I want those experiences again!! >__

As Tony Parsons says in his meetings,"this is the worst place for a seeker to be because nothing is being offered to her". Your impatience is itself an indication that you are speaking from the point of view of the seeker seeking for "food for thought".. I suggest you take up one of the great monotheisms within which there is much food for thought but alas little prospect of liberation.

....even if there is "no recognition" and "awakening" it's all ONE....sailor bob, john wheeler and YOU reading this, is all the same ONE....it's all there is. Whether framed by concepts, or not, described or not, spiritual state or not, its all ONE. A "problem" comes from advertising these videos as "sailor bob" with a "john wheeler"....no such thing because it's all ONE, that IS the pointer...."you" are THAT....not simple, because no "one" exists....far from simple, hard to accept...

....there is nobody here or there who can possibly "point," It's language confusing things by the ONE...there is no "computer-photo shop" we are not and cannot possibly be "lost souls." There is no simple or hard, shift or recognition, it's all ONE....the carrot, the stick is the same ONE. The mind, the "duality," the misunderstanding, the imagination is all ONE....why oh why do they all talk are IF they are sailor bob and john wheeler...the ONE keeps playing...

It was irony. The guy's probably on some trip of his own, but he's also saying something that is to some extent true: what John Wheeler is talking about IS obvious, and it CANNOT be communicated (only "pointed at"). And, in a certain sense, the search IS pointless. (Remember those stories about Zen masters and the like waking up and "forgetting about Zen and all that", or chucking away their Buddhist books.)

Oh god, my brain is self imploding... Am I on a different planet or have I lost the plot once & for all? - "Pointers, pointers, blah blah.. You are the truth of what you are.. what it is.. where it is.." It might be clear to you pal but you just confused me! Give my brain a rest pleaseeeee. Once Is enough, yep, don't need 2 hear all that again mate, you're probably a highly evolved life form & a very cool humanoid but I've just got a brain ache & ive had quite enough of listening to your preamble lol. "so that's why the meetings go on? - WTF? Put my mate Sailor back on pleaseeeeee.
