How would this be for a first project? I sewed a pillow in home economics in 7th grade in 1981. nothing except holes in jeans by hand since then and even then, I was confused about how to tie a final knot in the thread. I will buy the Sailrite sewing machine. Thinking of doing winch covers first. Difficulty level?

Can you explain why your thread only went through a single hole in the three-hole thread guide? My understanding was that we should route the thread through the first hole, around the guide bar, and through the third hole. What determines whether we should just go through a single hole? Thanks.

That was a mistake, but the machine still sewed. You are correct: Route the thread through the first hole, around the guide bar, and through the third hole.
