Ralph Vaughan Williams - fantastic. As a boy, in a Cathedral Choir, I recall our Master of Music telling us that he had recently had tea with RVW. Shortly afterwards, in 1958, whilst we boys were at annual camp, we learned that RVW had died. We sang much of his choral work which, even for boys of 11 /12 etc, was great to sing.

organ out of tune. very nice choir and i like the acoustic properties of the nave and the congregational singing. i have to say how beautiful and moving the communion anthem. i've always adored that piece, and so i did today. wonderful.

It wasn't mistuned, but rather a pipe in the swell got stuck open-a phenomenon called a "cipher" to which mechanical organs are particularly prone. It's been a long time since it's happened on this instrument! There was no way to fix it in the moment, so we just had to plow forward. Thank you for your kind words about the Tchaikovsky.
