Saint spittin' some cutting-edge truth. Literally and figuratively. I think every KZbinr experiences this: Most of the comments are super-positive. But there are always *those* guys. "Why did it take you so long to spank that gank?" "Wow, you struggled so much against this solo host, you must be really shit." "Why don't you just backstab them over and over again?" "I would have parried the shit out of them." From the KZbin comment section and Twitch chat, you could get the impression that the invader community is full of perfect pros who never struggle or fail. All they're doing is straight-up montage-material. Then you go invade, and every single other invader is complete horseshit. Runs into the R1-grinder and dies like a bitch after ten seconds. Gets killed by a single blue while you are fighting the host and two phantoms. Hits you with his nuke spells instead of the gankers/roll-spamming solo host. Every fucking time. I sometimes don't want to upload anymore, because I don't play perfect (no one does), and I don't want to cherry-pick the footage I show like in those ravioli BS montages. I'm just having fun with the game and sometimes, cool shit happens that I wanna show. But no, all those shit invaders who can't survive for ten seconds against a single phantom need to tell you how bad you are. Someone even uploaded a clip of LostMySanity invading him and dying to him, posting it on Reddit yesterday as if that was something out of the ordinary. You mean to say KZbinrs die to solo hosts from time to time?! Outrageous. Good thing it never happens to you I'm sure. Also, #lordheartblackhorse

yeah exactly. Although I don't worry much about my mistakes. I choose good invasions to share (if I remember to share them). Showing absolute domination is fun. Pursuits are really good too. Silly deaths or mistakes are amusing as well. Then again, I just posted two very cool losses in for honor tonight, so I'm hardly worried about, "shit, I made a mistake. People will think I'm TERRIBLE!" I certainly can suck at games like souls, or, I get my act together and rip and tear. When we are free of the shackles of doubt we are free to move and claim some juicy juicy souls.

Sometimes I have the untrue dark ring on, I'm looking good, edgey, and in comes my homicidal invader team mate - they see me and their brain barks 'NOT GLOW, IS HOST, R1' and I'm being thwacked before I can gesture in alliance. What seems to always happen next is my favorite bit. I create enough space to flash the no-glow ring on and off a few times and the hot head realizes I am invader kin. BUT NO, they've already come at me and can taste blood now, there's no admitting they went for the wrong person in this life, so they commit. There's this wonderful fleeting moment of conflict when all of this goes through their flustered mind. We fight. I probably win. Actual Host and Phantoms watch in perplexed delight. Thought I would share this common experience with y'all. Speaking the truth as always Saint, enjoyed the video very much & thanks for taking the time to make these videos for us, like seriously #thethingyousaidtohastag

I used to attack first, ask questions later on occasion when I first started invading, but you learn pretty quick that it's one of the worst things you can do. Now I'm just that crazy fucker who actually thinks you can use bow builds in invasions. (Yes, I have secondary weapons too, but I enjoy playing at long range with the Milwood Greatbow and mid-range with a Composite Bow for the people who don't know their spacing. You get killed a lot, but I'm just sick of pretty much every other weapon type at this point lol.)

It's really cool to invade and meet the youtubers you like. I've met Prod once or twice and helped him (although he could have won those gankers easily but it was fun) and you, Saint, a few times too (Sl125 dried finger run and one random invasion that later I discovered you were streaming at that time). Had lot of fun, helped (hopefully) and got some help from you guys. It's an awesome game and I love invading :3

I don't comment often, but I will here. Love your videos in this entertaining while also informative style Saint. Been binge watching everything you've put out over the past few weeks. You kinda inspired me to really dig into invasions after hundreds of hours of mostly avoiding it. So much so that when I had to start over (characters all got deleted thx Windows update) I basically built my character to invade every sl hotspot along the way and had a ton of fun. Please keep up the great uploads! #lordheartblackhorse

I want to say THANK YOU! I watched most of your vids and you did really show me the way...analyzing a gank then winning the war is sections. Thank you for teaching us. You helped me to obtain this...not playstyle..viewpoint, which makes ALMOST every gank beatable. Ofc random comboes happen, but next time I invade, its unlikely to phase me. I appreciate your teachings, master.

I played my lvl 125 for the first time since I learned how to play yesterday (thanks Saint) and spent the whole night in gank city. I had half a bottle of good whiskey left from Christmas and took a shot errytime I died. And ho. Lee. Shit. You’re not kidding about invaders. I had a grand old time. But I also got drunk as fuck. I spent the first 20 or so matches fighting the same host/phantom combo (not even a gank) but both were good players and working well together. My team had 4 v 2 odds pretty consistently. We were the gank at this point. But every time I looked away I’d be losing teammates left right and centre or more likely catching a chaos bed from an off screen ally and every match ended in me alone trying to dodge staggered r1s from these two guys. And I suck. But I was clearly the best invader these guys had all night. I would say I don’t get it. I don’t get why so many invaders are mashed-potato-brained scarecrows pointing down in a cornfield with a stick up their rectums hoping to scare a chaffinch but then I also don’t get how phantoms get to level 500 only pressing L1. I don’t get people. I don’t get this game. Are we the dumb ones for thinking about it at all?
@killerkash70926 жыл бұрын
Ds3 is less niche than the previous entries, so you have more "casual players" (level500 phantoms) to deal with, and personally I think that's where a good portion of the toxic point down junkies and hate mail hunters came from. I had fun with ds3, but like you, I began to question my sanity after dealing with so much BS lol. Time to get a new game or two, friend! You can always watch saint's vids to get your fix haha 😉

its cause that OL phantom is scaled down... Their vitality is not scaled down but their damage and defense is equal or lower than the host... As long as you can kill the Host you can end the match. Or the OL players might have around 900 HP... Some of them might have a greatshield.. which is a surprise but still... In Irithyll Dungeon.. I beat the Host.. done. Dude had two OL phantoms one with Yorhms stuff and the other with demon fists... but the hist only had 740 hp...

That is very true, he pretty much left YT for Twitch. Similar to a certain someone, right Saint?! And ye, Peeve was very entertaining back then in his own way. He was basically the exact opposite of what he is today. He used to care a lot about "honor" even in invasions, and when someone attacked him while he bowed, he used to get sooo upset it was hilarious. He was also pretty try-hardish in general. Needless to say, he changed a lot. Mostly for the better, but I gotta say, I miss the try-hard side of him a little...

As someone whos played this game since release, i have a lot of respect for that kind of "invade on my own terms" mentality. Sure, it makes the game so much harder, but it goes back to the original theme of what dark souls is about : the feeling of euphoria you get when you overcome insurmountable challenge. I was one of those guys who thought invasions were bs without a dmb wombo combo build several months ago, so I was a tryhard duelist. No longer tho, this channel called saint riot showed me da wae! So dont think that nobody learned anything from these videos. Now im doing fancy backstabs and weapon swaps, and i never wouldve been able to do that, let alone, even know i would enjoy doing that, thanks to this channel. Shout out to stream of consciousness invasions. And Shout out to saint riot, one of the last great pillars left in the souls community. Thank you saint.

Hey, Saint! I never really liked PvP in Dark Souls 3. I always were afraid of all the meta bullcrap you have to learn, all these crazy techniques you gotta master before you can play effectifly. But you invade with the Lothric Knight Shield. You really gave me the push to just play the way I want to play the game. And last weekend I won my first Sl 45 4 v. 2 Invasion with a morning star hyper armor build I made up myself (I just thought: Nobody uses this weapon, nobody remembers it´s moveset). Was just the coolest thing. I gotta admitt though, that your buddy Stickybandit is a little bit more encouraging for easily stressed out people like me. After an hour of Invading I age about a year, so I need some uplifting talk to get back in the saddle :D. Your tips were super helpful, I always carry a shit ton of quick infuse items around nowadays. And today I fought through Lothric Castle on SL 35 getting my new build ready for the Cathedral of the Deep. Never been there before under SL 100. You gave me MORE DARK SOULS CONTENT. YOU GIFT OF THE GODS! You and Sticky of course. But I watched you first.

Great video as always. I totally agree with you: one thing that I noted is that some invaders have an urge to kill everything that moves, no matter if it's another red or the host, just kill it. If you like to use the untrue dark ring things go even worse: they attack me even if I'm standing still and not being aggressive in the hope that they'll understand that I'm not the host. Sometimes I let them kill me and hope that they get killed by the host, other times I'll attack them and start lightning myself as a christmas tree on their corpse, if I don't manage to flash as red beacon before. I'm not a great invader, but some basic things I know and I always hope that the other reds know as well. I hope to catch one of your streams, it is always wonderful when I have such a privilege, but due to timezones this happens sadly rarely (#lordheartblackhorse)
