I had the same feeling. This was all pretty uninteresting when they were talking about the characters and story. Giving serious Watch Dogs 2 hipster vibes. But when they were showing gameplay and talking about the character creation and choices, did they get some interest out of me. If this game is successful you will never see another freckle bitches, and we will never get a true saints row game. I had my issues with 3 but at least it had something to do with the actual saints. I was really hoping the gang from saints row 4 would time travel and screw up time, effectively hard core retconing saints row 3, so we get a saints true successor to saints row 2 but unfortunately that's wishful thinking VL is nothing but a sjw mess now.

Ngl the whole ‘we got a giant new world for players to go explore’ is really rubbing me the wrong way. Saints Row wasn’t really about exploration to me, so much so that seeing a square mile of empty desert alone makes me wince. For me, Saints Row was all about character growth. It’s always been about being on the bottom, in the gutter, and crawling yourself out with effort and dedication until nothing can pose a challenge to you. I loved how in Saints Row 2 you would get a variety of benefits for doing the side missions that would improve your stats in incredibly powerful ways like granting the player infinite stamina. That’s what set it apart from GTA. I wanna start with a group of jackasses that are so far at the bottom that they have almost no idea what they’re doing. I want to perform odd jobs like shooting literal sewage at houses so I could get a permanent 75% discount at a car shop. I want to enter a wrestling championship so I learn how to punch people so hard they land on the other side of the street. I want to run explosives that are on a timer for no reasons while cops chase me so that the gun runner I’m risking my life for gives me a automatic grenade launcher with a belt-fed clip. I want to start with a beat-up excuse for a junker that’s missing a door and two tires and end with that same sedan that has a reinforced body, a fresh coat of paint, and purple neon spinner rims and under-lights. I don’t see that here. All I see is GTA V with a Fortnite aesthetics, and I don’t ‘WANT’ GTA V or Fortnite aesthetics.

Honestly i enjoyed saints row all together and just wish they made it to where they went back in time except in the process of them traveling there machine breaks and returns them back to there own bodies as there younger selves with the same memories from before, then they meet again and change how the story plays out again in a different way

Just have a damm remaster off sr1, sr2 and sr3 once you finished sr1 you move to sr2 waking up few years later from a coma then once you finish that you move to sr3 a new map opens that is steelport we're you can go back and forth even by boat or a car by a bridge connection from stillwater and steelport and you can play some parts off sr4 like a arcade game like the zombie uprising in sr2 or just some side missions when the boss is having a damm nightmare about alien invasion and how he or she saves the day , and let us 3rd st saints be satisfied and live in peace the rest who want this reboot can continue on.

If they put in some effort into creating unique missions, this game might be okay. Saints 4 lost me on all the repeat missions. GTA V had all the "trope" missions but they still end up creating a unique experience with creative writing and twists in the "kill everyone" mission environment.

This game looks good to me and I played everyone expect the first game. Sure Keith David being in 4 was the best but it is nice to start fresh again. Not a great comparison at all but breath of the wild changed pretty much everything about Zelda games. Not saying that is what is happening here but changing a lot of the systems in the game could be a very good thing. And people not liking the characters need to remember the characters from the first 4 games. They didn’t look like anything either. So I will put faith that they know what they are doing versus online haters that just seem to literally hate change now. I get it the world is crazy. But seeing good in things is not gone. So put faith back in the saints. No matter who they are. Cause I can feel the spirit.
