Yeah, lots of fans were wondering if Salvatore Maroni was ever going to meet Batman in The Batman: Part II. Guess we got our answer. It's a little realistic since Salvatore wasn't going to stop until either him or Oswald were dead to avenge his dead family. Despite being a has-been, Salvatore Maroni was once the biggest crime boss in Gotham before he was arrested, and since he worked with Carmine Falcone, he hinted that Sal may have hired a hitman (Joe Chill possibly) to kill the Wayne Family. Though considering what we see of him in the show, it's unlikely since (unlike Falcone) he values the concept of family and has some sense of honor.

It has also been done by Joker's thugs (The Dark Knight and Joker 2), Hugo Strange (Batman vs Two-Face), criminals released by the Riddler (Batman Earth One), Deathstroke (Beware the Batman), Rupert Thorne's thugs (Batman the Animated series and the Caped Crusader), Poison Ivy (The Doom That Cane to Gotham), Rebecca March (Gotham Knights), and Erin McKillen (The New 52). It doesn't change much about the character who caused his scarring.

I know some people may find the ending for Sal and the fight being a bit anticlimactic but let not forget that Sal is an old man who a few months ago suffered a nasty stab to the gut and has not really given himself time to recuperate. He has been hunting Oz for months and having rage attacks whenever he failed to find him. With his poor health and months of unrelenting stress, it is no wonder that his body gave out. It is a surprisingly realistic outcome to be honest look at the deaths of real life figures such as Genghis Khan granted there are different accounts of his death but the one that is many find plausible is him dying after falling from his horse. Not everyone gets a blaze of glory style ending. Overall I thought this was well fitting fate for Sal Maroni?

Fun fact: the guy playing Sal (Clancy Brown) is the same actor who voiced Lex Luthor in the Superman Animated Series and in the Justice League series in the 90s and early 2000s. There was even a crossover episode on the Superman series where Batman and Superman work together to beat the Joker and Lex Luthor (same actor). Super cool to see him active with DC Comics still, and as a Batman villain this round. 😊 Another fun fact: he voices Mr. Krabs in Spongebob 😂
