its disturbing but if you look into it the deeper part its a story he is living through world war one he has sever mental trauma from the war if you notice how he speaks and how he uses mores code talks of trench warfare and listens to the radio they didn't have tv in world war one it was all done on the radio.. that's the theory anyway. if anything it is the most effective way to explain to someone what its like to live with mental illness he shows signs of PTSD scitofrena and some other issues we are being put into his mind and how it works

When you first start watching this, you see Salad Fingers as a terrifying, psychotic creature that talks to himself along with finger puppets and dead corpses. Towards the end you realize he is just innocent, curious, and alone lacking the understanding of the world which forces him to make friends with dead bodies and act in a creepy manner. The Great War left the area around him desolate which is why he is living alone in a rough time.
