Great video! Tonight I put 25g of Basic Salad mix into a 1020 tray and added soil and sprayed on some Maxigro. I took your advice and didn't put weights on it, just a blackout tray. Hopefully will get good results like you!

Excited to see the results!!! We haven’t tried soil and MaxiGro, so we’re excited to hear how that turns out! Usually we will do either Soil or water with MaxiGro... but using MaxiGro on soil like a soil drench may actually provide better growth than soil alone.... let us know how it goes, we’d love to hear the results! Thank you for the support, it means to world to us!

I like the hydroponics too. Much cleaner. Soil is so messy indoors. I've done it on soil for years and just compost it afterward.

I totally agree! Hydroponics can also just be so much more fun :) I feel a bit more involved in the process that way... Thank you for your support Gale!

Are there certain micro greens that will not grow hydro and only grow soil If so could you give a breakdown?

ever tried to cover slimey seeds with a thin layer of soil/sand - to prevent them sticking to trays stacked ontop of them? :p

That's a good suggestion! We now have a trick we use that works just perfectly.

I grew the basic salad mix and harvested the crop using the same trays and methods in your videos. I thought my scale wasn't working, but I tested it with a cup of water at 225 grams. Seems to work. Can anyone explain how I got 652 grams? Is that really good? Is it bad? Am I using a different salad mix? I harvested a few days after I saw the true leaf forming.

Great harvest weight! Seeds can play a big factor... we have some seed batches that give us 300-400grams and others that give 600-800grams. It could also be temperature/light and/or the water source. We’re basically noticing that there are so many ways to increase yields for microgreens 🤗🌱🌱

@@OnTheGrow Thanks. Also, the side where I had my heater blowing grew bigger than the other side.

My big question would be...is there a taste difference. You are growing them to be eaten so which tastes better? Soil or Hydroponics?

We talk about this in our newer experiment videos at the end of every video! 🥳

Just wondering what is in your salad mix ?
@OnTheGrow5 жыл бұрын
Great question! The salad mix from Trueleaf has these varieties in it: Broccoli, Kale, Kohlrabi, Arugula & Red Acre Cabbage.

Do you know rough mix of grams of seed because I am in Australia and no seed supplier that provides a premix
@OnTheGrow5 жыл бұрын
@@angryaussie670 I wish we did :/ But the seed supplier doesn't say.

Thank you for all the information! Was the MaxiGrow 4-5 days behind the other mediums? If so do you think it could’ve beat out Texas Pure? Thanks!
@OnTheGrow4 жыл бұрын
I think that MaxiGro could beat out TexasPure... We will have to do another comparison soon on this! Thank you for the support Monica!

Can I send you guys some free organic soil I have made.and put it though yalls experiments/performance test.

That's not Soil, that's Dirt :P Soil is an ecosystem, that dirt has no life, just bacteria and water :P Worms, springtails, isopods, etc, all increase nutrient's in the soil by breaking down organic matter. Hope to see this test again with a proper living soil :D
@OnTheGrow5 жыл бұрын
Lol, totally agreed! I’d like to get some actual living soil into the space, but for commercial growers, everyone mostly sticks to the Promix and prepackaged “soils” so that is what we like to experiment with! Most people aren’t going to have a full ecosystem soil available so we are just trying to get close to what people have access to. I’d love to see how super living soil would perform and I’ll see if I can’t get an experiment going with some!

Texas soil is not DIRT, its soil. Dirt is on the bottom of your shoe. All horticulturist know this. Good job
@OnTheGrow2 жыл бұрын
Dirt is soil. Just because you have a negative association with the word, doesn't mean that we do or have to. Soil is commonly referred to as earth or dirt. All humans know this. 👌🌱
