Excellent video! Very clever how they built those sets. Ferndale has hardly changed since filming, it's a beautiful part of the world. Love the original mini-series. Interesting that the scene with Danny and Mike in the grave was created on a sound stage with fake walls. There are a few behind the scenes photos which show Hooper filming that particular scene.

This soundtrack while watching was quite effective. Still one of the best vampire movies, if not THE BEST considering the year it was made. Watching this play in the big screen movie theater was really frightening. Yes it was made for television but in some countries, Salem’s Lot was shown theatrically. People were screaming especially the intense scene in the cellar when the vampires slowly woke up creeping their way towards the door…the whole theater experience was magical.

Was always one of my fav scary movies from the 70’s. Had not seen it since then. Popped up on Starz of all places. So good. Didn’t disappoint. 👻

Dammit, I knew the exterior of the church in the wide shot looked different from the close-up of the front doors when Ben is leaving with the holy water! And how could I have not noticed that the burning Marsten House was a totally different house from the façade that was built for the movie?

I'd never thought the two church scenes were supposed to be the same building. Much like Ferndale, CA itself, most towns like this had a few churches. I just assumed SL was the same...

@@iansbolton During the scene where Ben and Susan visit Father Callahan, the image of the Los Angeles church is shown, and when Ben and Bill stop at the church in Ferndale to collect the holy water, Bill asks Ben if Father Callahan was there, implying that it's supposed to be the same church.
