Hi, my name is Salina and I live in a village in remote Alaska that shares my families last name. My great grandparents homesteaded here in the 1940s and now it's a thriving little town of nearly 200 people year around. My family owns and operates a summer resort right on the families homestead....your Alaskan vacation by Alaskans.

You know that we watch all the National Geographic shows about living in Alaska, and I often wondered how they really got supplies. The shows make you think that they all trade and hunt for everything. Your reality is eye-opening to the idea of moving to Alaska and not being a part of the outside world.

I don’t watch a lot of you tube videos, but your channel is one of my favorites! The grocery trips are mind boggling….I’m so spoiled here in NC, where I have 5 supermarkets within a mile radius. Because you’re so remote, things most of us take for granted require extra effort, but you’re so blessed to be surrounded by such beauty and a large, loving family.

Jared you were great with the shopping/video work. I have a question if you can answer (well actually 2 question). You've done videos where you say how much the hauls were, but I can remember seeing a video where you've said the total of the shipping for the hauls, Also. I was wondering why can't you use one of your planes you have at the resort to bring everything back instead of paying for the shipping?
@salinaalsworth_ak
@salinaalsworth_ak 8 ай бұрын
Thanks for asking! Because we are employees, we have an allowance for freight per month as one of our benefits...after that, we get billed monthly for our freight (also a benefit as an employee instead of paying on the spot). So I don't know our shipping bill until the end of the month/beginning of the next

Do only small planes land at your airport or the airport long enough for the 737-400 Combi? I used to go from Anchorage to Kotzebue and Nome for work on the Combi. The air taxis seem like they would take such a long time to get everything in.
