Today we are ticking off a massive bucket list item and travelling on one of the classic Indian railway journey’s - the Kalka to Shimla Toy Train. This is said to be one of India’s most scenic railways journey’s.
The toy train route stretches 97 Kilometres, winding its way up the foothill of The Himalayas. Two thirds of the route is curved, making for some stunning views of the train as it slowly bends its way up the mountain. It's easily one of the best trains in India.
Despite it being much quicker these days to travel by car, this still remains one of the most popular Indian Railway journey’s. And you will need to book your tickets weeks in advance to ensure you don’t miss out!
We first found our love for train travel last year when we took the Trans-Mongolian / Trans-Siberian train from Beijing to Moscow. Since then, we have made it our mission to take as of the world famous train routes as we possibly can.

Come to North East India. It's the most diverse place in the country. You can find snow in Arunachal, Flat land in Assam and obviously a ton of mountains and hills in the all 7 states except Assam. I'd recommend you to visit Meghalaya 🙂

But u should have *inner line permit* for maybe 2-3 states(i m not sure) out of 8 states.(Not Required for Assam,Meghalaya,Tripura) Those permits can easily be produced before visiting the states and requires a very small fee.
