Some cracking fish pal, good to know the Nairn is still fishing well. You have one more subscriber. Might go down to Pat Fraser's next year and get a ticket. I'm only on the top of the hill above Auldearn so it's handy enough. Well fished mate.👍

Thank you John the Nairn was good when we had water early on, just dipped a bit over the summer. Hopefully see you on the bank next season then👍👍

Nice fishes and epic scenery… a lil tip, next time you try to land the salmon when your bank is just a rocky shallow beach… just walk backwards and the fish will follow you and fall to its side. No need to use a net and try to reel it in, they dont like reeling, but you can walk then like a dog on a leache. Try it out

Has anyone done research into how catch-and-release fish fare? It would be interesting to microchip them to see if they make it up to the spawning grounds after expending all that energy. Nice video.
@nairnfly3 ай бұрын
Thank you well thats a fair question. In my experience i have see very few dead salmon on a river other than if there has been an outbreak of disease. There are many stats available on the internet that show the same fish can be caught multiple times so perhaps they do ok, however a lot depends on how the fish is handled by the angler.

@@nairnfly I found this report which seems pretty encouraging. As you say though, a lot depends on the handling of the fish by the angler. www.wildtrout.org/assets/img/general/Impact_of_catch_and_release_angling_practices_on_survival_of_salmon_-_report.pdf

Beautiful video. Love the Findhorn, it’s a stunning river and great to see a fish coming from the AA water. 3 superb fish, couldn’t place where you were on the Nairn? There’s been plenty of water in both rivers this year.

Thank you Graeme yes its my favourite river. The pool on the Nairn with the fish is called Milton near Cawdor.

On the Findhorn am using a 13ft rod with an 8/9 line and Nairn its a 11ft switch rod also with an 8/9 line.
