Wondering do they have dark roots with blonde and bleached hair and can the dark roots be lightened

Very interesting, I am about to start colouring mine. Question though, why do you colour the roots and not just bleach in foils then tone? is it just to cutout the need for bleach so as not to damage the hair so much? My new system is a dark ash blonde, which i want the roots, and then I was going to foil it. Do you think it would be too harsh for the hair and the root applicatoon would be better? Thaks for the videos x
