Can't wait for the other functions to be added to the Starfarer so you get to understand how useful the Farer will be once jump gates start to be a thing. Where you sit on the outer reaches of a system near the route players must take waiting for people who drop out low on fuel, selling at 200% because they have no choice. Pirates will leave you alone as you are like a space remora that help people exist outside of regulated systems, they might even sell you protection.

for refueling (and also salvage and mining) to make more sense we really need to have the ability to go to random places that don't have a station or point of interests attached .. i am thinking of "crash sites", derelicts drifting about in the void, comets and asteroid belts etc. that can be just about anywhere. Also we need the ability to "spring a leak" in regard to fuel tanks as a result of battle or even random events like micro meteorites that may hit a ship when t he shields are down and cause a leak etc. in regard to self reliance .. i suspect that a system like Nix will be much more able to lend itself to that becoming a thing .. mainly because we need a lot of systems to get implemented to actually make that possible .. mainly things like mobile refineries and the ability to transfer stuff (fuel-liquids/gasses and water) from one ship to another .. have a system in place to buy those .. and a starfarer rework ^^ .. the reclaimer also needs one .. especially because it does not give proper access to its cargo spaces .. the elevator is atrocious to use .. and a ship like the reclaimer would be a prime candidate to receive the ability to manufacture spare parts for ships .. and ships like the crucible/vulcan are prime suspects for repairing that would also require them to aquire and actually use up the appropriate materials as a basis to create stuff.. generally we need actual "crafting" in a place where stuff is not only scarce but non existent.

I love the idea of high vs low grade fuel. Low grade is what you get from stations/npcs and is suitable for everything, while high grade fuel is entirely player produced (or at least only available form npcs in bulk/limited quantities) and should give a boost to pvp, explorers, and racing players. Making pvp players dependent on the effort of industrial (at least if they wish to optimize) players is how you solve the piracy and pvp griefing problems without artificially limiting players.

The issue with certain things ONLY comming from other players is that it would mean that a single Org could potentially corner the entire market, making it impossible for everyone else to get these things and if these are valuable (read: powerful) enough, this could mean that the entire verse would be dominated by that single Org. The good thing about CIGs design intention of NPCs taking a bigger role in the verse, with players only ever being big contributors, but not dominators of market shares, is that everyone has the ability to bounce back, rather than being excluded from participation due to animosity from someone who just wants to be the biggest bully on the playground.

SC needs gameplay that matters where players can make meaningful progress and advancements through various gameplay loop systems, I don’t think it needs an extreme depth when it comes to the day to day filler fluff, at least for the time being until other things have been fleshed out.

Hot take: I don't think the game needs 2 fuel sources, its unnecessary, refueling and travel balance would be a lot easier if we had 1 simple fuel source, everything you do should burn quantainium. Think about it, simple is better. Obviously tanks would be bigger. But you'd actually have to put some thought and pay attention to your fuel where as now its a non factor.
@mhmm4840Ай бұрын
I'd rather be able to maneuver at sub quantum speeds if I get yanked out close to my destination by an interdiction. Obviously kinda a niche case but I think it makes for interesting gameplay, maybe quantum fuel is a lot more expensive, so if you are willing to take the time flying on thrusters around a planet (with a capable ship) it's cheaper.
@nydabeatsАй бұрын
@@mhmm4840 I'm just thinking in the future when we have multiple systems and you want to fly to a desolate area where there's no refueling options and you can't make it on one tank, you set a ping where you want to go on a planet and the route would tell you how much fuel you need to jump to the planet and how much fuel it takes to traverse the planet to the location. Currently you'd have to manage and calculate 2 different fuel plans for one trip. I just think it would be much easier to only have to think about 1 tank of fuel, in terms of planning a route (jumping and atmo), refueling, costs ect.
@mhmm4840Ай бұрын
@nydabeats I personally think it would be harder to keep track of that way. With 2 different fuels, I can know exactly how far my quantum is going to take me while not having to worry about getting stranded because I loitered too long. I don't think it would be a bad thing to have to manage your fuel that way, I just disagree with it being easier. The way it is currently, you know exactly how far your q-drive can take you, which is the major decider in what you have access to. Your regular thrusters can take you basically anywhere around an orbital body if you are patient enough or have the right ship. It also opens up the doors for interesting concepts like fuel prices. Maybe regular fuel is really easy to mass produce in practically every system, but quantum fuel is made with rarer materials and only produced in certain locations. So while everyone has access to both fuels, the quantum fuel might be more expensive (or not available unless by player gas station?) Just my 2 cents
@nydabeatsАй бұрын
@@mhmm4840 fair enough, good points, but to me the fact you don't have to worry about getting stranded is the problem. Currently in stanton once you get where your going you can fly around with hydrogen fuel and never worry about it because you always have enough quantum fuel to get to a mining outpost or whatever. Thats why refueling isn't a thing and fuel prices don't matter. But if you get to a non inhabited system, you will not have to worry about 1 fuel but you'll have to worry about hydrogen as well. And yea maybe that doesn't matter if your just flying around goofing off but if your trying to complete maybe a mining operation and the rich ore location is over multiple tanks of fuel away now you really have to calculate 2 different parts of the journey separately and figure out how much of each fuel to bring in a refueling ship, separate refueling intervals and all the costs. idk I'm just theorizing, not really taking a hard stance or anything, thanks for replies man. the 2 fuels honestly is not a problem in stanton, it works fine, I'm just thinking about systems with no fuel, no points to jump to where you'll have to manually fly everywhere. Fuel is going to be an issue and I'm curious to see how Cig handles it.

Ohg hunting down rare ammo for your next fight, like Elite Dangerous.. but in a box moving simulator you have to make each bullet yourself or it will not be realistic

Or you have a friend with a ship set up to manifacture a specialized AP ammo. He needs a list of materials to make a production run. If you want the ammo, you need to cooperate to mine or purchase the materials and provide security while he runs the production.

I want a flea market, maybe physical, where players are contracted to transport those items to and from. And more lootable items, valuables, art, shit to loot, sell and make profit from, like Tarkov. Imagine loading a gatling with APs rounds and shredding the enemie's ship. Maybe you could loot ammo boxes for your ship during fps gameplay. So many cool ways of doing it, CIG makes none of it.

Do reputation-based recipes, seed the world with basic items have a very small amount of rare items and then reputation-based recipes for the rare items.

Pyro NPCs shouldn't be selling infinite amounts of fuel. Even on stations, you should probably have fuel stamps/tokens and gain them doing jobs for that faction. Normal credits and infinite supply would be bad because there's either infinite fuel, or there's "limited" and very expensive, wreaking all the economy in the system. It should be treated as a special commodity that is highly paid to miners/refiners, and distributed sparingly.That leaves room for player driven fuel distribution.

I understand your thinking that we should do everything in pyro, but then I understand SC, this is a living universe, unless they create a new system that has not been populated by anyone then is normal you would have factions fighting over control, and without the UF law, everything goes, hopefully they will add demand, like not all stations or locations will have fuel due to outage, then you can take a mission to bring Fuel to them, or wait for fuel ships and destroy them, then have your org use their ship to sell to players on the side, FYI I don't care for PVP or what pyro means, what I am looking for is exploration and pathfinding, I like the investigations missions, I would love more of them, like find and investigate derelict, get info to locate stolen cargo or an item or something worth money, fighting should always be optional, that is my rant, wanting everything done by players in pyro might not be as fun for all as you think, at least it will not be for me, got enough stress in my life as is.

yea id like it if it was more about players providing the recourses instead of npc's infinite supply pool

If you've ever played foxhole, you'd see how cool it is to be part of something where everything you use in game is created by players. If CIG did go the route of making it players responsibility to manufacture, trade and sell the important stuff then it would be sick
@brickstonesonn9276Ай бұрын
Star citizen players should really check out that game.
@Stormyy6310Ай бұрын
I think most SC players would come to not like this because clans control everything in Foxhole and you really do not matter at all no matter the efforts you make
@Fuar11Ай бұрын
Or the economy would crash because the playerbase alone cannot support it. If players could CONTRIBUTE that would be essential for this game's economy. But have only the players do that? I don't think that's good
@whatasaverl6456Ай бұрын
@Fuar11 would be more the higher grade stuff. I still think the in game market should be able to provide a reasonable quality of everything. But when it comes to wanting more efficiency and higher grade weapons, amo and more durable components, that could be something that makes people have the choice of working for collectively and making collectively. I used Foxhole as an example of just how cool it is to have such a range of in game resources collectively made for a wider cause. isn't the best direct comparison by any means I agree.

For fuel grades you need to go all the way back to when they were doing sales BS for the Freelancer DUR and the SF stuff. I no longer give a shit what Pyro is, or is not, Im sick of the excuses and the fails and the delays, I just want jump gates and the blocking tech that lets pyro happen done, because then CIG have far less valid excuses to finally deliver Pyro, and thus fewer excuses for what comes beyond Pyro.

The problem is we can't have players being able to farm and craft everything. Anyone who has played an mmo with a housing system, that allowed farms, mining, etc... will understand. What happens is at the start you'll have alot of people who's sole jobs are either gathering, refining, or crafting. But by the time the game matures, the bulk majority of players will do all those steps themselves, becoming self-sufficient, without needing to interact with the general game economy outside of NPC gold sinks. The only people buying at that point are whales and players who made it rich during the early boom by properly investing. These same players are usually geared out and only interested in rare gear high-end gear that typically mmos lock behind raids/events. Or the occasional sales from the upper-middle wealth players who could do it themesleves but just feeling impatient and want it now as by this point the gold sinks arent effecting them. Ultimately everything becomes inflated in value as the gold rarely leaves the hands of the upper echelon of players and when it does it usually just circulates back into their localized group in the form of raid bid payouts not contributing to a global economy.
