I moved away from home along time ago. I find myself living on Vancouver Island now. I moved from an island on the east coast to an island on the west coast. Some sunny sunday morning I still gets the smell of warm kelp on the beach and it brings me right back to the sundays I use to spend as a boy in my Newfoundalnd home. You can take da b'y out of Newfie, but you can't take the Newfie out of da b'y. My name is Ken, and I am Newfie!!

If all us newfoundlanders moved back home we would sink the island. Its a beautiful place. I miss it everyday. Had to move away to find work like many more of us. Would move home in a heartbeat if I could.

My mom moved to Toronto and had me, now she's able to work from home I hope to be able to move back there for at least a year. I hope one day I'll be able to return and create a life and family there.

25 yrs and counting, don’t think I will ever go back , oh but how I wish I could.....raising my family in AB and now this is their home & I will always choose where my kids are, soon enough God willing, their will be grand babies and a couple of generations lost to what would have been Proud Newfoundlanders....funny how one can give up happiness for contentment ....... damn all the politicians that sold out Newfoundland and gave away its sons and daughters.

Every time I hear this song I think of my friend Michelle,she use to live at Placentia (jersey side) many moons ago..and she loves this one..every time i hear it I play my accordion along to it...it is just great (true) lyrics of real people,simple,but hard outport life years ago... great job guys!!! lovely
